Bio: The Satellite is real dastardly man, this old time mercenary has decided to throw his hat into the ring once again. This old timer retired from the battlefield many years ago after receiving what he thought would be a career ending injury during the Battle of Denver in the winter of 2020. After a lengthy recovery process the man known as Satellite would make a complete 180 degree turn and enter college at an advanced age. He would eventually graduate and become a licensed physician. During this time, as he was re-evaluating his life Satellite would begin to court a younger woman that was in his biology class and before long they were dating and by graduation he was married. Satellite had begun a new chapter in his life and he thought he had put his past behind him.
Though for this old mercenary, he might have been done with the war, but the war wasn’t done with him and his troubled past would eventually catch up to him. For Satellite his life couldn’t have been going any better, he was married to a beautiful young women, whom he adored with all his heart, he had a new career that was allowing him to continue to help people and not make him feel rejected do to his disability and he was becoming a productive member of society and family man as his wife was expecting. Though the fates had another plan for him, down the road and Satellite would once again be forced to face his demons.
For him the actions he took during the war against the Native American Nations were sanctioned and he was not considered a criminal or terrorist since he retired from active service before the UCAS would sign the final piece of the treaty and declare surrender to the natives. Though that doesn’t mean what he did during those days was at all legal and followed the rules of engagement. He was part of a unit that didn’t seem to care about the lives of any native and saw all natives the same as nothing more then enemy combatant. This would mean that they would engage any native camp, town or village the same; they would leave no one left standing and kill everything that moved. For this unit wholesale slaughter was the normal they would even joke about how many dead Indians they left in the dust. They were simply refereed to as the Cowboys, and they were the go to mercenary unit for making sure a native camp was left a ghost town and creating a new trail of tears.
Though through the years this unit would make allot of enemies and eventually become a target of many native attacks as well as become a target for the UCAS politicians to target for war crimes. For Satellite, his actions in this unit would end on December 17th 2020 during the Battle of Denver when he would be severely wounded by a native bombardment that would render his left leg nearly paralysed as well as crippling his right arm and hand. Satellite would survive the ordeal but would be forced to retire from combat do to his injuries, this is when he had is rebirth as he recovered in the hospital and was undergoing months of intense physical therapy just to regain partial movement and use of his injured limbs.
Well as the years went by, the members of the Cowboys were being rounded up one by one for their combined actions during the war. A new native council had decided that all enemies of the NAN needed to be arrested and tried as war criminals for their actions against them during those early days. The UCAS had agreed to this as long as those charges would be brought against where truly guilty of war crimes, this meant the Cowboys and various other mercenary camps once sanctioned would now be charged and arrested and this meant that Satellite was in jeopardy. The new life he had built for himself was about to come crumbling down as federal agents began rounding up mercenaries that had retired to force them to stand trial for crimes they might or might not have committed. So in the fall of 2045 the FBI rolled into Columbus Ohio where Dr. Wilbur Montgomery aka Satellite had become a pillar of the community, beloved by the people of his neighbourhood and as the federal agents would bust into his private practice office and in a show of force bring down Satellite and drag him out of the office in handcuffs in front of his patients, staff, and neighbours. It would leave the entire town in shock, even his family was left in horror over his arrest and the charges being brought before their loving husband and father.
The Arrest of Dr. Montgomery would ripple through the town like the water in a lake after one throws in a stone, his family would become disgraced as the people would just whisper and point, they would be forced out of school, church and eventually the shame would force his family out of there home and out of town. Though for Satellite they would never waiver in their dedication to him, as he was never quite about his actions during the nights of blood and he might have been regretful for some of the people he killed. Dr. Montgomery was not shameful about his actions and he would always tell his family that every action you take in this world will shape how you are perceived. As long as you can look yourself in the mirror, and say I did the best I can and I did what was best for your family, for your country and for God then you shouldn’t be ashamed of anything ever. These words he spoke, where what kept his family with him through the trying times to come, as Dr. Montgomery was being charged with war crimes, murder of civilians and the destruction and desecration of the bodies, relics, and native culture and was facing the death penalty for these crimes if found guilty.
His trial was to take place in Denver and he was to stand before a unified tribal judiciary panel, where many of the judges where once soldiers that he fought against. While he sat in his prison cell, listening to the trials before his, his mind would once again flood with memories of the war and he would be dragged back to a point in his life that he left behind him. While in the Denver native military prison he would have to fight to protect himself from fellow prisoners, native criminals, and the guards. He would receive many beatings throughout his time in the prison and this is when he would receive further injuries, have his teeth all knocked out, he would be beaten so severely that his left eye socket would concave and he would need to have a metal plate placed in his skull and have his eye removed. Since everyone figure he would be hanged, they wouldn’t waste the money on replacing it with cyber. Dr. Montgomery would receive many brutal beatings at the hands of the native guards, he would live each night in terror in his cell wondering of he was even going to survive to have his day in court. He would be forced to witness the executions of his former squad mates, and other mercenaries that would be found guilty. For Dr. Montgomery the terror he was living wouldn’t just be the beatings he received daily from the guards or the countless months spent in solitary confinement. It was the total disregard for civil liberties and for the forced sodomy with the business end of a shotgun, he was living in hell and the only thing that would keep him going and not ending his own life like so many of the prisoners was the love for his wife and kids. Satellite would spend five years in prison before his trial would start, once he was given his trial date of May 23rd 2050 he was both relieved and horrified. He knew a trial meant his date with the gallows would be coming soon, for he knew the trial was only formality for the NAN to legally murder him. He was also going to stand trial on his 25th wedding anniversary, he so longed to see his family again and just hold his wife one more time, hug his children as he had been denied any visitation during his time in hell. He knew they would be in the courtroom, but he would not be able to interact with them. He also didn’t want them to see him like this, he was just a shell of himself, from the physical, mental, and sexual abuse he had suffered for so long. He was suffering from malnutrition and had lost a significant amount of weight he feared the site of him in this condition would scar his wife and children for the remainder of their days.
Eventually the time would come and the guards would come for Dr. Montgomery, as they would call him to his cell door, placing the heavy iron shackles on his wrists and ankles the chains dragged on the ground as he limped his way out of his cell and would be dragged to the courtroom. The entire time he was being heckled by the guards as they would make sly remarks about what was in store for him that evening. Satellite would just wince at the thought of further beatings or worse a trip to the laundry room or shower room. After what felt like an eternity he was standing before the large metal doors that divided the prison from the court, the doors opened and with a flurry of flashes and flying questions from the reporters Dr. Montgomery was brought out into the court. His eyes burned from the natural light that flooded in from the windows and skylight, he had not seen the sun or the sky in five years. He stood there in awe as the sun basked down on his pale sun deprived skin, he didn’t even think about the heavy shackles, and chains weighing his limbs down. The black and white striped prisoner jumpsuit that sagged over his body showing the weight loss and the embarrassment of his family seeing him like this. He was just happy to feel the suns rays once again, as the guards just brought him to the centre of a long wooden table. There was an older gentleman wearing a dark three-piece suit, and conservative tie waiting for him at the table, the crowd of onlookers where yelling obscenities towards him as he gazed over his shoulder to a packed room full of natives and UCAS personnel, he could see in the rear of the courtroom his beloved wife and two children. He could also see his wife was holding a young baby no more then a year or two in age, he started to get choked up at the thought of being a grandfather. He had missed his child’s wedding, and the birth of his grandchild and now they would have to watch as he was rail roaded straight to the gallows. Dr. Montgomery would then turn to face his accusers, he would see before him a large curved raised bench like those the a Senate comity would be sitting at. He would see eleven men before him all of native decent and dressed in formal tribal garb the walls ornately decorated and the flags of the UCAS and NAN would hang behind the supreme judge in the centre who was not of native decent and dressed in the traditional black robe of a judge the only oddity was under the robe wasn’t the standard dress shirt and tie, this judge was in a UCAS military uniform and the name plate before him read Hon. Jonathan O’Brian.
The man standing next to Satellite was obviously his lawyer, a man he had never once meet and he wasn’t allowed to even speak with, the opposing council was a younger native man dressed in formal tribal garb and with a bang of the head judges gavel silence fell across the gallery and the trial of Dr. Wilbur Montgomery aka Satellite would begin. I will not bore you with the details of the trial, if you are interested in reading the transcripts they are available here (*34435967**) Though the trial of Dr. Montgomery would last for a month and in the end he would be found guilty and sentenced to hang by the neck till he was dead and with another slam of the gavel his fate was sealed. Dr. Montgomery would just fall to his knees in shock as he would hear his wife and children crying and being lead out of the courtroom. He was just scoped up under the arms and dragged back to the prison knowing he was just sentenced to death, though not knowing exactly when. He was just unceremoniously tossed into his cell and then he would cry himself to sleep as his cell door would slam shut and the guards would walk away laughing at his expense.
Though what he didn’t know was his family was still standing by his side and had hired another lawyer, to fight for his life and fight for his conviction to be overturned. Since the crimes he was charged with could never have been committed by him since they all happened after he was retired and in medical school. His trial was a farce and so was his conviction, though his family new they needed to move quickly since prisoners convicted in this court where normally hung within a month of their conviction. The lawyer they hired was one of the best defence lawyers around though he was not cheap and even with him reducing his fee it still would drain the families accounts and they would be forced to turn to not so legal methods to make ends meet and keep the lawyer paid and to keep there father off the gallows pole. Meanwhile for Dr. Montgomery his nightmare was continuing as he would once again receive nightly beatings, visits to the shower room and trips to the laundry room where the guards would toss him into the dryer and let him go for a heated spin till he was vomiting and nearly passing out from heat, and the tumbling. He would be nearly be drowned on some nights as they would shove his head in the washer, and his body was burned with harsh chemicals. For Dr. Montgomery he was wishing for his trip to the gallows to make the pain stop, though on the outside, his lawyer was working the appeals process and trying to get the conviction over turned. Though all it was doing was prolonging the abuse Satellite was receiving, and for the next five years both men endured till his lawyer had exhausted all avenues and couldn’t get the conviction over turned. This had become a political issue and Dr. Montgomery would become sacrificial lamb to appease the blood thirsty public and get thee politicians re-elected.
Well when all seemed lost for Dr. Montgomery and he was given his execution date, and as the date would draw near he would be forced to begin the dress rehearsal by this point he just submitted and welcomed death. This poor man had been beyond broken, his body was physically scarred, his mind cracked and will to live was gone. Though it was during the night before his execution, he sat alone in the cell having just finished his last meal of warm water, and a scoop of second rate kibble. He knew he was to hang in a few hours, the pastor had arrived to deliver last rites, Satellite just lowered his head in prayer and began to cry as the priest said his blessing then anointing his forehead with the oil and herbs. As the good father left the cell saying “May God take mercy on your soul.” Dr. Montgomery just sat there drowning in sorrow as he buried his hands into his face and cried. he would be flooded with memories that would cause his pain and torment to grow. he would see himself holding his wife’s hand as she gave birth to their first Daughter and again with his son Wilbur junior. He would see himself playing with his kids, teaching them to ride a bicycle, fly a kite and even watching them graduate high school. The many camping trips with his son and the scout troop where he was the Scoutmaster. and giving his son the highest honours becoming a eagle scout. For Dr. Montgomery this was a proudest moment as he was a Eagle scout as well, his son was a true chip of the old block. Many more memories would come as his life would flash before him as the hours clicked away. Eventually he would snap out of when he would here his cell doors unlock on instinct he rose to his feet, and stepped forward with his hands extended to accept the shackles. He was just lost in the journey through his mind and wanting to not die without his family being in his mind, he felt the cold iron wrap around his wrists as he was dragged out of his cell.
Though this was different and not what they rehearsed, he was being taken to the shower room. His heart sank, as he was going to have adore one last beating and worse before he would be hung. They chained his wrists to the shower head, removed his clothing and took a nightstick to the back of his knees and I will spare you the details of what they did to him. He was being blasted with scolding hot water after, he still had a nightstick inserted you can imagine where. He was crying out in pain as he would receive the worst beating of his life, his blood just ran down the drain as the scolding hot water washed him clean. The guards would toss lye onto the body, limbs and genitals of Dr. Montgomery, the shower water would help the burning but the water itself was burning him till one of the guards turned the water off and just left the lye on him to severely burn him. After many painful minutes he was again blasted with scolding hot water. They again began to beat him to near death with the nigh sticks, till the senior guard said, it’s time dress him and bring him to the gallows. They took him down and redressed his near lifeless body, when a young native guard decided he wasn’t done with Satellite and he wrapped a rubber band around his burned testicles and with one swift motion he removed Dr. Montgomery’s scrotum and rendering him eunuch. This action caused him to pass out and would force the guards to take him to the medical wing, instead of the death chamber.
This beating was supposed to be his last gift from the guards and his last memory before his execution, but this became the event that would change history. This would bring to light the horrors that the prisoners endured, their harsh treatment and eventually get the entire system shut down and save countless lives from abuse and wrongful executions. Dr. Montgomery was in such bad shape, his survival was unknown. His lawyer was alerted of this from one of the few guards that actually had compassion and brought him to the medical bay to see Dr. Montgomery. It was this action that would eventually get his conviction over turned, as Satellite lay there in a coma, his bones broken, his body burned severely, his gentiles burned to a crisp or missing, and his body racked with infection and internal damage. His Lawyer championed on his behalf, eventually getting him brought to a state of the art hospital in Seattle. He would file charges against the prison, the guards, and even the judges for the lack of civil liberties, the lack of human rights, the vicious assaults and poor living conditions.
As Dr. Montgomery recovered in the hospital, with his family at his bedside the lawyer would begin to show the world why he was the best in the game and why you never want to make Mr. Perry Mason angry. With the assistance of Mr. Eric Peterson and Mr. Jack Malone these three lawyers went to battle with the NAN and the UCAS federal courts and within five years they would win against all odds and Dr. Montgomery would be a free man, and he would also be a wealthy man as he would be awarded one of the largest settlements in UCAS history. Though all the money in the world would not bring back the caring man he was before his arrest, Dr. Montgomery would recover from his coma and injuries after many years of intensive therapy. He laid in a coma for the entire five years, he blacked out a convicted felon on death row and he awoke a free man, when his eyes opened for the first time in five years, he gazed upon his entire family that had stood by his side for the entire process. He saw his now 10 year old grandson and two more grandchildren he never saw before a 6 year old girl and 3 year old boy. His daughter stood before him, with her fiancée, they told him they put off their wedding till he was free so he could walk her down the aisle, she then introduced him to another grandchild as she placed Wilbur Montgomery the third into his arms. He winced with pain but he also was beaming with pride, his fifteen year nightmare had ended, and he was home he was with his family once again.
It would be a very long rode for Dr. Montgomery, he might have recovered from his coma, but he was not out of the woods. He would remain in a adult care facility for the next 5 years. As he had to relearn how to do a vast majority of the basics of life, he needed to be taught to walk again, even to use the lavatory, and speak as his jaw had been shattered in so many places they were forced to replace parts of it with metal. He had to have multiple surgeries to repair the damage to his spine, ankles, and his shoulder. They used minimal cyber do to his magical nature, most of his organs where replaced do to being ruptured and he even had to have his heart replaced. Dr. Montgomery might be an older man, but he has the organs of a young man.
Even though he was recovering at a rate that was surprising most doctors, he was still psychologically damaged and suffering traumatic nightmares, that would send him thrashing in his sleep or cause him to urinate in his sleep. The damage he received required his prostate to be removed and this has caused him to be incontinent. He needs to maintain hormone replacement therapy, thanks to a new advancement from Bio-Tech he doesn’t need to worry to much about that. This man is now a shell of himself and lives in consent fear, he can barely manage some mornings to even get out of bed. But do to his therapy, the love of his elderly wife, children and grandchildren he has been able to walk his daughter down the aisle, he has been able to get back to being a Scoutmaster and even was able to go back to work. Though this time he choose to work with patients that can’t speak, he has chosen to work for the Coroner’s Office as an advocate for those to receive justice. He also works with the Special Victims division as a counsellor, it seems that Dr. Montgomery has made a full recovery. Though he is still a very scared man, that has just learned to deal with his own issues through hard work and self medication.
Well one would think that Satellite would no longer be even able to or would even want to be back on the streets. Well after the Battle of Seattle this disabled old mercenary just couldn’t sit by and watch the natives and UCAS try to turn his Seattle into the war zone he remembers from many years prior. He might not be a serious a threat as Striker, Cider, Samael and others but this man is still an adept and he is still more than capable of defending himself and taking on enemy targets. What he lacks in mobility he makes up for in sheer skill and with that Satellite has thrown his hat back into the ring, he has decided that he would rather die fighting for the people of Seattle then die hiding under a table. He is once again living up to his own advice and devil be damned, Satellite is fighting now not just for himself, but to defend to liberties of his children and grandchildren.
It does seem though that once Satellite took back the streets as he did, he has been able to put his past behind him and the scared old man is no longer a part of him. personally I feel that it might be a spilt in his personality. Reports indicate that when he is not on the “Job” he is still the nervous old man. So I feel that what Satellite has been through has done it’s damage and we might never get to see the real Dr. Wilbur Montgomery again, though we are seeming to get a good vision of Satellite and from what I have seen and read about this man. It is very impressive, for a man that can barely walk and his hand partially paralysed he moves with lighting precision and is deadly accurate with the spass. It seems a paralysed hand has no affect on a smart-link system, as Satellite has sent many federal and NAN forces to the grave. He has know taken a personal interest in burying the members of the trafficking gang known as the Vandals well for that Satellite I give you my seal of approval.
He is still the Scoutmaster of troop 187 of Lynnwood and maintains a perfect attendance record at work. He has become once again a pillar of the community and is very active in his church, though I think he ignores the “Though Shall Not Kill” commandment. Dr. Montgomery has a small private practice office in Lynnwood that he see’s patients on an on call basis and he never charges for his services and this is one doctor that still does house calls though for that he will charge a simple 10 credit fuel surcharge if the patient can afford it. This man makes my job hard, cause I am supposed to condemn these street killers, but this man is just a nice old grandfather thats been through hell and back, he is doing the right thing for the people and he is fighting against the enemies of Seattle and the evils of the Vandals. It is really hard to hate him, even for his past he has paid the price dearly and served 10 years in prison, so again I have to say this is one of the good guys. I am not sure how he he survived, what he has been through would have killed better men. So Satellite, keep up the good work and if you see this man on the street thank him for his service to the city, thank him for his service to the victims who can’t speak for themselves, and thank him for the sacrifices he has made to keep each and every one of you safe each and every day.
