Bio: Well it’s time to talk about the mayor of Santa Fe and the commander of the Santa Fe Ring Nero Caprio, a man that is beloved by the people of Santa Fe and New Mexico for his kind and compassionate demeanour. Nero has been serving Santa Fe as the mayor since 2018 and has been hailed the true hero of the people, this politician is far more than meets the eye and is one that simply doesn’t try to deceive; when Nero speaks one must listen carefully cause his words have power and he never minces words. This fact is one of the many reasons that the people of Santa Fe love him and as well for his generosity, though don’t think his honesty or generosity are a show of weakness quite to the contrary he is quite potent and not a man to cross.
Nero is one of the unlucky Americans that would still be living from a bygone era and at the age of 16 would volunteer for the Federal Immortality Project back in 1850 after he joined the United States Cavalry a unit he served till its close in 1942; Nero’s service record shows that his direct retirement would come in 2010 when he would be gravely injured while serving in Iraq with the 82nd Airborne, though we have records here that after being elected mayor of Santa Fe during an emergency election the newly elected mayor would go missing after visiting the Veterans Affairs hospital and according to newly surfaced records he would show up reinstalled within the US Army and sent off to the Battle of London in 2018. The reports come from a stateside military office within the Veterans Affairs Office and have been recently exposed by the Veterans Affairs Committee of the UCAS Senate.
We would learn from committee chairman Senator Elwood Martinez (F-KY) that Nero Caprio would suffer a demotion from his retired rank of Colonel to Corporal and be dumped directly within the front lines where he was decreed Killed In Action (KIA) days before the actual fighting. The demotion and change in his military speciality from Airborne Ranger to general infantry would be a slap in the face to a man that dedicated 160 years of his the US Military and than to simply try to erase him from the record would further show evidence of the government cover up that still plagues the FIP program. Hopefully Senator Yates and Washington along with President McKeen will be able to undo the damage this has caused.
Though we would learn that Caprio here is another survivor from the Battle of London and would end up seriously wounded and according to his after action report and the witness accounts from the citizens of London during the Inishmore Invasion; Corporal Caprio would go above and beyond the call of duty during those three days of hell and end up saving countless lives of the citizens of London and even allow for many of his fellow 82nd to live for a few more hours or even days till the chemicals and fires would take their lives. While most historians focus on the central front as that line held the 21 Strong or simply known the Walking Dead; Caprio wold be within the Northern Ridge and dug in deep with the Icelandic Infantry and do to this become one of the forgotten seeing many simply assumed the Northern Ridge collapsed once the trenches where set a blaze leaving no one alive.
Yet it would be Corporal Caprio and his quick thinking and decades of command experience that would save nearly 300 men, Caprio would see that the line was about to fall and give the command through old school methods to retreat and vacate the trenches early and dig in deep behind the safety of the trench; many say that this would be simply dumb luck on his part as communications were cut, but Caprio fluent in Italian would actually here the Italian Guard barking orders and calling for a retreat minutes before the firebombs pounded the location. Caprio regrets that he was only able to save 300 and wishes he could have moved quicker but he reports that he was lucky to overhear the soldiers over the shooting and through the muzzles of the gas masks.
Caprio would take command seeing that most of the officers had been killed and he s well spoke Icelandic and was able to return order to a chaotic situation, reports indicate that he was still pulling men out of the trench as the wave of napalm was rolling down like a raging river. He reports that the scent of burning flesh still haunts him today and the screams will the last thing he hears as he lays down for the night and the first thing he hears when he awakes. Caprio and his men would dig in behind the inferno and give the Inishmore and their allies hell, many Inishmore soldiers would simply charge straight into a wall of death, as the didn’t expect any resistance soldiers to be still among the living once the fires burned out.
The allies low on supplies and dug in deep to the mud and ash would form a line that would terrify the enemy and force many of the Inishmore and her allies to retreat from the hail of gunfire that would be unleashed; those that pushed forward would meet their end from the 300’s bayonets and eventual hand to hand combat. Corporal Nero and his men would hold strong for another eight hours and repeal wave after wave of Inishmore attack until there numbers where dangerously low and the chemical bombs began pounding the location once again forcing Caprio to call for a retreat into London’s northern section.
Once in London and unaware of the fate of the rest of the 82nd and her allies he felt that it was up to him and his now 150 men to defend London and protect her people; so that’s just what Caprio did he would rush the brownstones and flat buildings telling the citizens to follow him to the basements and to stay concealed; making sure they had buckets of water and towels to protect from the gas that was already pounding as well blowing into the city from the battlefield as the wind had shifted. He would as well carry out the elderly and children in an attempt to get them to safety; risking his own life time after time he would charge out of a residence sheltering the children or elderly with his own body to get them to the prepared shelters within the schools and churches, going back and forth across the poisoned streets dozens of times before a bullet from the enemy would find it’s home within Caprio’s knee and bringing the already winded and wounded man crashing to the cobblestone street; even on the ground and thriving in pain he continued to shelter the small child he was cradling as he dragged himself back to the church shelter.
Caprio ignoring his injuries would crawl out of the basement shelter and back across the cobblestone and poisoned street to grab the sibling of the child he just saved that was trapped under the body of one of Caprio’s men. This would be where Caprio wold nearly meet his demise as he dragged himself across the street on his belly slicing his body on the debris and shrapnel that was already buried deep inside his body, he stated that suddenly their was a loud explosion that rocked his body his ears buzzed and than fell silent, a burning sensation ripped through his left side followed by a wet sensation and suddenly his lungs began to burn as every breath was more painful and trying than the other. He felt that this was it and God was about to call him home, but as his body burned and he felt himself slowly dying, the steeple of the nearby church began collapsing partially and all that remained was the church bell that began ringing through the town. Caprio shook of the incoming shock knowing he had at least one more life to save; the cries of the child for his mother where all he could hear as he slowly dragged his nearly lifeless body to the child that laid under the bloody corpse of a fallen GI. Caprio would learn that he had zero use of his left arm and would have to wrangle the child into the fallen soldiers ruck sack, get the soldiers mask onto the boy, pull the ruck sack onto his chest by the straps and use his right leg and what was left of his left and his right shoulder to get to safety.
This soldier already knocking on heavens door would spend nearly ten minutes crawling on his back as he bleed and digging the stones, metal and splinters into his torn body to get the child to safety. He would as well drag his broken body down multiple flights of stairs breaking bones and tearing muscles the entire time. This was Caprio’s last stand and if he was to die at least the child would survive a life for a life; though that would not be in God’s plan as it wouldn’t be Caprio’s time and his number wasn’t up yet. According to the witness accounts and Caprio’s after action report he would reach the basement shelter and knock on the door with his head nearly cracking his skull in the process. He would feel the door open and get dragged in by his straps from the citizens he saved, the citizens would begin to rend to his wounds and he would come to learn that they were part of the London Underground and this location would end up having medical supplies and a few trained medical professionals that would end up saving his life and treating his wounds.
We would learn the London Underground was a group of concerned citizens that feared an invasion from the Inishmore and would begin the gather supplies and citizens resistance in case London was invaded; well for the American soldiers of the 82nd this would end up being a life saver as many of the 82nd would end up being spared by the same citizens that they saved. The London Underground would end being cut off from aiding the military and rescuing citizens once the chemical warfare started as very few were prepared for chemical warfare in 2018.
Nero would report that he spent three months within a London surgical clinic after the war, he would have his reports submitted by the same citizens that saved him and hope for the US Army to come to his aid; though no such luck would happen and his report would sit unanswered within the US Embassy as well as the British Minister of Wars office till 2075 when it would be discovered by Lord Neely the Speaker of Parliament and sent to Senator Maximilian Yates (F-SeaI). After three months Nero would receive a plane ticket back to Santa Fe from the people of his home town and that would be the end of his days serving the US Army and he would officially be sworn in as mayor on January 14th 2019 and he would continue to serve as their legally elected mayor ever since.
Nero’s military career was long and he has served and fought in countless wars and conflicts throughout his years with the military from the Civil War through the War in Iraq and every one in between. His wounds are countless and left his body scared and his mind tormented; though his body would be forever damaged from the Inishmore Invasion of 2018 leaving his left arm paralysed, his elbow fused and his hand paralysed and fused. permanent hearing damage, metal plates in his head and orbital socket and stabiliser bars in his legs with a his left knee replaced, his spine fused and nerve and lung damage that torment him daily. Yet through all of these wounds and his prior injuries Nero has maintained a positive attitude and has become beloved mayor and the feared opponent within the Santa Fe Ring.
How this man is still able to fight, move and command a military unit is unfathomable but Nero finds a way and from what we saw during the opening volley of the Confederate War of 2075 this man is still quite active and very lethal. He might not be double drawing like many of the Ring do, but his single pistol and modified rifle and shotgun are just as lethal and he is fastest among the Ring and dare to say the fastest draw in the west to date. Though more on that later, we have allot to go over when it comes to General Nero or as he is called the War King, this man has been able to not only protect Santa Fe but train the Ring and Elite to act as the cities line of defence. Nero once he was sworn in would take command of the failing resistance against the Natives and turn the expected defeat into a guaranteed victory; the War King would fight through his injuries and drive the enslaving and murderous natives out of Santa Fe and decree it to be a sovereign state on December 3rd 2019; he did this while aiding Texas in there Uprising and offering aid to Mayor Gunner of Phoenix, Mayor Caprio might not have personally fought in the Texas Uprising of 2019 as he was still recovering from the Inishmore Invasion and focusing on the freeing of Santa Fe but he couldn’t sit by and watch as American citizens where being murdered and enslaved by the Natives.
For Nero this was less about racial hatred or bigotry but simply justice and freedom as he would prove once he kicked the Pueblo Nation out of Santa Fe he would begin to open diplomatic relations with them, he did accept refugees from the displaced Texas but those that proved to be unable to let go of their hatred would find themselves outside of Santa Fe’s walls looking in. In the early days of the city it would be a hell hole and from what I heard today it still is, Santa Fe is a walled and gated city within the Pueblo Nation and no one I mean no one is allowed within the city without the direct permission of the War King and the city is protected by the Santa Fe Ring so don’t even try to sneak in. Their is a strict No Fly Zone within a hundred mile radius of the city and any aircraft not turning away will be shot down this includes commercial airliners and they have even taken down a sub orbital that refused to alter it’s flight path……this is supposedly for the security of the state, but seriously I feel they are hiding something.
