Bio: We have just learned that Greeter is the eldest son of Brian Kindler and that should terrify everyone that this man is evil incarnate. Well Dr. Kindler is just the opposite, he is nothing like his uncle, cousins and father, Greeter as they call him is actually a humanitarian and someone that left Dallas to separate himself from his father’s murderous ways. Dr. Kindler is a actual medical doctor that is specialised in internal medicine and has a general medicine practice here in the Emerald City. He uses his longevity as a way to build a relationship with his patients and neighbours. This neighbourhood doctor has aided generations of families and aided in the birth and death of many of his patients….I mean he delivered them and at the end he would sign the death certificate, not actually bring about their demise.
This man is a partial pacifist and follows his oath to do no harm, he might be a physical adept and trained in battle, but that sword he carries doesn’t leave it’s sheath unless he is defending himself or his patients. No surprise that Dr. Kindler hasn’t been accepted into any of the special orders that his kin have been welcomed into, and no surprise that he decided to escape the callous world of his father. How this man could come from the same line is amazing, but we do have the Defender from the Crane line and it seems within the Gunners we have Greeter.
They call him greeter simply do to his love for the city and her people, this man is one of the first to haunt the tube station s looking for the runaways and dreamers. He is their to lend a helping hand and steer them away from a life within the shadows, knowing all to well the fate that will be awaiting them on the streets. He offers free medical exams, medication samples and to those stalwart enough to ignore his warnings and statistics he will supply them with a certified credit chip, pistol and ammo, and as well some basic armour….say a prayer and wish them the best.
The life expectancy of a dreamer on the streets is only a few weeks as the veterans and legends hold extreme discontent for those they deem a dreamer and will go out of their way to end the rookies life. Dr. Kindler is only trying to extend the life of the confused and hope they would be more willing to try their hands in university, corporate life or just about any other line of work. He provides the new comers with documents, files and medical reports of what is awaiting them in the streets, as he has first hand knowledge of what the weapons of the shadows can do to the physical body. He also knows that the police department are more willing to arrest and execute a rookie runner than a veteran. Seeing many officers of the law are either moonlighting as runners or have close friends and contacts in the profession; street proverb states that if you don’t get to know anyone on the streets closely for the first year, as they are more likely to end up greased and the loss wont be as hard to take. This same proverb flies around in the military during times of war, just showing you how lethal the streets of Seattle are….and with the Outlaws Five here now, they just got a whole lot deadlier.
Dr. Kindler has a big heart and actually cares about all those poor souls that are lured here with the dream of getting rich in the shadows. He feels that if he can lend a helping hand and try to convince the young to go back home or take a profession in a legal field than he can at least rest easier. He knows all to well what his father is capable of and how Brian Kindler will use these fresh faces as either target practice or a patsy. Offering them a hot meal and few credits to do an operation and then slapping the cuffs on and taking them to prison on trumped up charges just so he can enjoy the sound of a neck snapping.
For Ronald Kindler this is something he cant stomach, as a father and grandfather himself he worked hard to instil core values and a moral compass into his family. He still attends church weekly and keeps his family close, reports indicate that his father Brian has been keeping tabs on his son but they have remand apart as of current. For someone like the Jackal having a pacifist son that looks to save lives not take them is a stain on the record of the Outlaws Five, and hence father and son keep their distance.
Dr. Kindler never took on the Gunner surname and after medical school, internship and residency was completed he picked up and moved to Seattle and has taken residence inside Lynnwood where he has remained ever since. Dr, Kindler never served in the military and hasn’t been involved in any of the major conflicts besides lending a helping hand medically, he only wounds with his blade and normally uses less lethal tactics…unlike his cousin Jamie who is reported as saying “I don’t kill those I like, nah I just maim them.” or Creed and the “It’s not if he will start shooting….but when.” can’t forget about Chelcie and “I simply love a stroll through crimson river.” so just that Ronald managed to hold onto his humanity with those men as his influences growing up is a miracle.
Dr. Kindler is very proactive in the community and his church, he works alongside the Tribe in their aiding of the people of the Bowery yet he openly objects to their at times more lethal strategy when dealing with the problems. He is sickened by the thought of young Allen Grimm, Andrew Yates, Solomon Rodgers, Bobby Jamestown and Ronnie Meisner taking to the streets like their fathers and killing without second thought. Simply that Ronnie is so desensitised to violence that he can decapitate someone and simply smirk or Andrew can bash a victims brains in and than only complain about getting grey matter on his boots bothers this father of three. He knows all these boys are related to him in some manner of speaking and how they got so twisted he can never understand and blames the parents for allowing their offspring to become killers instead of having childhood.
Though for Kindler this is a personal belief and not something he will openly express as it is not his place to tell anyone how to raise their children. He was lucky that he escaped with his conscience in check and didn’t resort to silver dollar collecting like his cousins, he separated himself from his father and uncle in his teens and went to work to pay for college, medical school and his move to Seattle. He refused to accept any of his families blood money or their political aid gained through wading through a river of blood and gore; though as much as he held discontent towards his elders, it was their sacrifices and struggles that inspired him to enter the medical profession.
Growing up he watched his father and uncle struggle with the war injuries, the agent orange syndrome and chlorine sickness; he as well would witness the same in other veterans and his cousins that would all gather for the holidays. Watching these me suffer greatly would break his heart and he vowed he would never allow for anyone to suffer like they did and hope that one day he could help ease their pain trough advances in medicine. He my have hated what they did and how casually they spoke of killing but he still loved them and cared for them all, and after his fathers injuries sidelined him when he returned from Denver Ronald Kindler made it his life’e ambition to help all those in need.
Not much more can be said about the Greeter, besides if you see him walking around the tube station please heed his warnings and take him on the return trip. He speaks the truth and the runners of the shadows in Seattle hate the newbies and are willing to sacrifice them for a quick meal or use them as a patsy, the law is more likely to frame and execute the rookies, and the corporations will treat you like garbage and throw you to the wolves on day one. Starvation, sickness and exposure are real dangers as well, the streets of Seattle are not lined with gold and the chances of hitting the big time are one in a million and even those that strike it rich are back to work within a year….seeing the streets never forget and the money needs to be spent on the latest chrome, guns and gear to keep the cutting edge. Even hitting the big time and living the dream doesn’t last forever as you re more likely to end up dead in the gutter, sold to a ripper doc or killed for your shoes than you are to cash in that cred chip. Take the medical exam, and bus fare home, Seattle will chew you up and spit you out, if you really want to fight for a change join the US Elite and receive the proper training and spend a few minutes speaking with anyone of the veterans that are within that order if you still question the words of the good doctor.
