Detroit Company
The
D-Day
Tribe
Deep within the ruined tunnels of Detroit lies a labyrinth of catacombs and twisted beings that are hell bent on the destruction of all mankind, the Motor City has been plagued with disaster for many generations and with the economic collapse of the banks and industry the city almost completely self destructed as crime ran rampant, corruption within the halls of the government and the people forced to reside within a demilitarised zone. Total anarchy would be the cities only real export and the shadows would become home to some of the worlds best runners that were needed to restore any resemblance of order within the former Motor City. The citizens would be thrown into a great divide with those that just fell in line residing above the streets and those that believed in freedom, liberty and the pursuit of happiness being driven under the streets deep within the catacombs of Detroit’s sewers and subway stations where they would forgo the basic comforts of life and form into independent tribes all hellbent on freeing Detroit from the clutches of the corporate and government corruption that ravaged the remainder of the troubled city from above.
Those that would choose to live under the city would not be without conflict and troubles, as the cities underbelly would prove to be far more dangerous than anything these patriots would ever face within the mean streets of Detroit; food would be scarce, clean water would be a rarity and the creatures that called those tunnels home would begin to hunt those that now claimed the underbelly as their home. The tribes would eventually further rupture as they would wage war amongst themselves over territory, food and water that would become the greatest of all resources within the underbelly. While the corrupt power players would further enslave Detroit and continue to send the once great city deeper into the pitfalls of anarchy and bankruptcy, those that choose to abandon the civilised life to stand in defiance of those that desire to enslave them; they would be driven into a new form of conflict as the tribal leaders would turn on each other and as the people would fall victim to the madness inducing effects of radiation, pollution and the diseases of the creatures that hunted their human prey.
What once stood as a true rebellion and the only hope for the troubled city would quickly unravel and become a internal civil war where the rebels would begin to kill each other and forgetting their ultimate goal of true independence from the usurpers above the streets. The divide would go even deeper as the power brokers above the streets would use their influence to even further the division of the tunnel rats as they where called. Food, clean water and supplies would be traded for loyalty and power plays as the tribes would become nothing more than petty criminals and murderers attacking surface dwellers and doing the dirty work of those in power that resided high above everyone else looking down on the city of their creation where the people were nothing more than puppets in there great plan.
Well all was going according to plans of the usurpers and tunnel rats where being hunted to the brink of extinction by the police, military and even the average citizen who was feed up with being robbed, mugged and even murdered over a few hundred credits, a gallon of water and some synthetic rations. Detroit seemed to be prime for the taking as the years passed and the UCAS (United Canadian American States) would formally declare Detroit a war zone and seal the cities perimeters forcing those that remained inside to either fight for survival or become a pawn of the usurpers. The tribes nearly annihilated, export and importing controlled by those living in the utopia of the corporate district, all seemed lost for the once great city of Detroit; even those that worked within the shadows above the streets where beginning to see the futility of their efforts and being forced out of the city or face a fate worse than death.
That’s when some new blood would emerge within the underbelly of Detroit, they would arrive from parts unknown, though they would all hail originally from the Motor City before the great divide. These men would arrive to see their home city ravaged by war, the people fighting amongst themselves and the usurpers getting rich of the blood, sweat and tears of those that remained above the streets. These Detroit natives would quickly grow sickened by what they where witnessing and new something needed to be done to prevent a total destruction of their beloved city and order needed to restored within the underbelly or everything would be forever lost.
This new faction was a well trained and highly organised chapter of the Brotherhood of Mercenaries commanded by a man know as Colonel Roy Gunderson and his right hand man Major Howell Campbell; these officers would use their lifetime of experience to quickly reorganise the crumbling tribes and restore order within the ranks, they would use members of their own division to hunt down those within the rats that had given into the will of the usurpers and within a year the underbelly of Detroit was once again working as a unified unit, and the great rift had been sealed by the likes of Colonel Gunderson and his men. Though the usurpers would not go silently into the night and they would move resources around and hire many murderous criminals, gang members and dishonourable mercenaries to clear out the tribes for good this time and so would begin the blood bath of 2065 as Detroit’s underbelly would be ravaged once again; the forces of the usurpers would be almost to much for the tribes as they where outnumbered, out gunned and under trained as the fighting would commence under the city the usurpers would cause a ripple affect above the city.
Once their resources where focused on destroying the tribes bellow the streets, the people above would begin to rise up and take to the streets shoulder to shoulder marching upon the utopia of the usurpers. They where being led by the pirated broadcasts of a man known simply as Socrates, who would use the cities old radio signals and stations to broadcast the truth of the usurpers, the tribes, the revolution and UCAS to the people in his nightly broadcasts from an undisclosed location within Detroit. The usurpers would be powerless to resist the internal revolution as the citizens powered by the words of Socrates would guide them in their fight for independence, the only thing the usurpers could do would be to reach out to the government of the UCAS to help restore law and order within the city. The UCAS was hesitant to lend any aid, do to declaring Detroit a Demilitarised Zone and washing their hands of the entire situation, though with the usurpers threatening to request aid from Quebec the UCAS would be forced to enter the city and turn their guns own to their own rebelling citizens; this would bring forth the Great Detroit Rebellion of 2070 and as the tribes would unit once again with the surface citizens the great divide would close and war would break out within city for many years to come.
Many lives would be lost during the conflict on both sides, but it would be the reporting of Socrates that would keep the moral of the rebels high and eventually within the gales of November the UCAS would surrender to the tribes of Detroit and at the Old Maritime Museum General Franklin Welsh of the UCAS and Colonel Roy Gunderson would sign the Treaty of Detroit and declare it’s rule to be in the hands of the tribes; so on November 15th 2072 Detroit was officially declared an independent state and tribe would be placed in direct charge of the city as the UCAS would withdraw it’s forces allowing the city to formally police and govern itself. Well this would have been a wonderful event if it wasn’t for the usurpers that would survive the rebellion and would continue their great plan of division and enslavement of the people of Detroit. The newly appointed tribal council would be fraught with discord and inner conflicts as these men would be unable to resolve even the simplest conflicts without resorting to petty threats and acts of violence. It truly was a wonder how they managed to work together in war and defeat the UCAS when they couldn’t actually work as a cohesive body of government; though for commanders once divided by personal theologies and ideologies the idea of working as one body was foreign.
Even Colonel Gunderson was able to keep the piece seeing that his once proud division of soldiers had been beaten down to nothing more than a unit of special forces soldiers and the fear of his tribe was waning within the halls of Detroit. Even the reporting’s of Socrates was not enough to keep the cities war tribes at bay and with the usurpers still plying for power it seemed that Detroit would once again fall into conflict and the city would crumble back into the great divide as the tribes would begin to return to the tunnels and within six months everything they fought for would seem to be lost. That’s when Gunderson and Campbell would forge ahead with their plan to reunite the city and through the use of their now team they would bring more than just pain and suffering to the usurpers and the tribal leaders that sided with the enemy; and by December 10th of 2073 Detroit would once again be united as the last of the usurpers would be either captured and executed or driven out of the city by the tribe that would become known as the D-Day Tribe or Detroit Company. This time Colonel Gunderson would not form a council and he would personally take control of the city and grant the people what they desired and deserved and that being independence and the right of choice; he would return democracy to the battered city and as well extend the olive branch to the remaining tribal’s within the underbelly. Though for Gunderson and his Detroit Company the shadow of war loomed once again, as the UCAS would retract their desire to allow Detroit to live free and independent and as the city of Seattle would strike their fatal blow to the UCAS and declare themselves free, the forces of the UCAS would invade Detroit and Colonel Gunderson would reach out to the people once again and after giving a Churchillian style speech live over the broadcast of Socrates signal he would once again unite all of the tribal’s within the city and even the citizens that where now feeling democracy for the first time and the second revolution of Detroit would commence on December 10th, 2073.
Well we now that the revolution was going in the favour of the tribes and Gunderson as the UCAS was meet with a great resistance and loosing ground faster than ever before, Socrates broadcast would breach the city and partner up with Mr. Boston and quickly the word of the UCAS’s deception and tyranny would spread throughout the UCAS as the two legendary broadcasters would spread the news of the engagement even through the UCAS vain attempt the block radio signals. The people of the nation would begin to stand behind Gunderson and the tribes of Detroit, as other cities would rise up in revolution taking their ques from Seattle and now Detroit; they would learn a valuable lesson on this night that freedom isn’t free and sometimes the price can be the blood of the innocent. As the UCAS was dealing with multiple rebellions within their boarders and within their great cities, a nefarious plan was being hatched within the Federal District as the law makers meet within the cover of darkness hidden in smoke filled rooms; they would all sign into action the use of nuclear warfare upon their own people, a small grouping of government officials and military commanders would all agree that their only course of action would be to drop multiple low yield nuclear warheads onto the rebelling city of Detroit in hope to quell the uprisings in the other cities.
So on the evening of December 31st 2073 when the UCAS forces would converge once again onto Seattle, the military forces would pull out of Detroit. Colonel Gunderson sensing something was coming would order evacuation of Detroit and many of the tribes would go deep under the city into their makeshift vaults to protect themselves from the impending doom. Socrates would give one final broadcast warning the people of the doom that awaits before going to dead air and slipping into parts unknown. It seemed that in the UCAS’s attempt to silence Detroit for good they showed their hand and allowed their enemy to escape the purging fires of nuclear apocalypse. It is unknown what the actually fatality count is, but just like the Japanese during the Second World War the uprisings ceased and the UCAS once again restored order within their boarders; though they wouldn’t take credit for their actions and pass all the blame onto one man they now call the Shepherd further washing their hands of the stain of injustice.
With Detroit a nuclear wasteland after the bombings, it is unsure of what will eventually become of this once great city, though one thing we do know for certain is that the D-Day Tribe survived the attacks do to the quick thinking of their commander and have recently taken up arms against the UCAS and few usurpers that remain. It seems that this tribe has developed a unique and rare immunity to radiation and can safely traverse the ruins of Detroit searching for survivors and collecting relics of the cities history. Though for the D-Day Tribe this has become personal and they will not rest till the UCAS is held responsible for their actions against the innocence of Detroit, they are not stupid enough to believe that the Shepherd was behind the bombing of the city as it takes a presidential signature to authorise the use of that level of force, the Detroit Company will stand untied as one in defence of independence and seek vengeance for all the innocent souls that have been lost during the final hours of Detroit’s existence as more than just a ruins.
This team now is more than just a team they are family and a tribe, they are referred to as the Doomsday Tribe and for them this is personal as they watched the government retract their own treaty and force the people of Detroit to suffer the fire of the nuclear storm. They walk the scarred landscape as ghosts of the past, haunting the soldiers of the UCAS and bringing justice to those that unleashed the firestorm upon their own people. Those that have survived the purging fires are gifted with dedication and a sense of duty that goes beyond the grave, the Detroit Company and now more just the Detroit Squad will be standing for justice as they begin to cleanse those guilty of the injustices brought onto them and their countryman.
The
Doomsday
Tribesman
Colonel Roy Gunderson (Colonel): The man, the myth and the legend known simply as the Colonel is the founding father of this once proud division of mercenaries, he has watched over the years as his unit would become ravaged by war and strife. The Colonel is a honourable man that holds true to the principles he swore as an officer of the United States Marine and Officer, and would attempt to unite the ravaged city of Detroit under one banner to stand in defiance and defence of their home city. Even though Detroit would end up being victorious and learning what democracy and freedom would feel like though short lived, the nuking of Detroit by the UCAS would way heavily on his soul and he would see the loss of Detroit and the death of the millions of innocent souls as his greatest failure.
Major Howell Campbell (Otacon): Otacon is the Colonels most trusted adviser and friend as these two have been all over the nation fighting on behalf of freedom and democracy, even going as far as to lend aid to the war torn nation of Africa to assist the citizens their until they would eventually throw in the glove and retreat once they learned that even the innocent don’t wish nor want saving and would engage even those that attempted to lend a helping hand. Otacon like the Colonel see’s Detroit’s loss as a great failure and even though the first casualty of war is innocence, Otacon can’t help but feel responsible for the part he played in the final act of the resistance.
Captain River Douglas (Caravan): The man known as Caravan is the legendary arms dealer that has aliened himself with the Detroit Company do to the city being home and place of birth. Caravan would prove to the Colonel and the others that he was more than just a gun runner and could more than handle himself in combat. Caravan is a man that has allowed his soul and conscience to be put aside temporally as he understands the ultimate cost of war, and has felt it’s sting numerous times throughout his lifetime. Caravan and his nicotine addicted sidekick supply the Doomsday Tribe with all their neat toys and is more than willing to go toe to toe with anyone that dares cross his path.
Captain Judge Trevor (Snake): The ultimate hunter and legendary soldier of the Doomsday Tribe, Snake has worked alongside the Colonel for many a decade and has countless confirmed kills to his name. This man like the Colonel fights for the cause of democracy, freedom and independence from the injustices of the world, Snake has one target still on his list to remove but that will have to wait since he is now focused on the resurrection of his home city and bringing justice to the fallen the only way Snake can.
Captain Lewis Brooks MD (Medic): The teams medical support is this man simply known as Medic and lets just say his doctors bag is full of neat little tricks, drugs and patches that seem to be able to restore his teammates physical and mental state quickly. He is a master of the medical field and some say that it’s do to the Medic that the Doomsday Tribe is immune to radiation, and able to hunt where no one else can. Best stay clear of medic on the battlefield as well, this old doctor is a trained soldier and has been working with the Colonel for many a decade. He might be honourable like the rest of this unit, but don’t confuse honour with cowardliness he will defend himself and the others as well as the innocent with every ounce of his being.
Captain Kennith Franklin (Ocelot): Another great hunter within this unit is Ocelot and this man has been on the prowl for many a decade, hunting down those that commit acts of injustice. He believes strongly in the cause and as a Detroit native he harbours serious resentment towards the UCAS for allowing his home to fall into the great divide in the first place, then for the murdering of the millions of citizens in their illegal nuclear strike. The Ocelot will continue to hunt with his team as he patrols the shadows and brings down any prey that comes before him, the Ocelot hunts the guilty and to him those within the UCAS government are guilty of more than just treason.
Captain Kirk Underwood (Raiden): Well to deal with this man is a serious problem, for Raiden is this squads magical support and he is a master of storms, lightning and wind thus making Raiden a nightmare to deal with; than take into count his prowess with a sword and you have a real devil to deal with. Now add in the fact that he is just as angry as any member of this unit and seriously feed up with the killing of the innocent for no other reason than to further ones own agenda. Raiden was helpless to do anything when the bombs would fall upon Detroit and the screams of the innocent will haunt him to his last dying breath, he will seek justice for each and everyone of them as he wades into the battle with sword in hand.
Ira Fellows (Socrates): The only other radio personality that is just as famous and legendary as Mr. Boston is this man, Socrates was the Mr. Boston of Detroit and now according to my sources he broadcasts out of Boston and alongside the legend himself. Socrates had to resort to illegal pirated broadcasts in order to get people the news in Detroit once the Usurpers got involved and it was his inspirational news reports and words of wisdom that would allow Detroit to feel the God given right of independence, though Socrates does feel as if he could have done more to rescue more innocent lives from the city before the bombs fell. Though with Socrates and Mr.Boston working side by side spreading the truth to the people, it won’t be long before vale of deception is fully lifted and the people are free to see the truth for what it is.
