Despicables
Well with every passing age there is a team that enters the shadows and either leaves a legacy behind or just fades away; this team is far from fading away and they have already left a legacy that far surpasses their age. We once declared that the New Breed would be the end of an era and the runners as we know them would no longer be defined by their generation nor would the world accept any further criminals that only desire to profit off the corrupt. Well war make strange bed fellows and the need for future runners is once again in demand, with the age off the New Breeder fading away and we enter the dark times of confusion, chaos, war and fear; we now welcome the new generation of runners called the Lost Children and just simply the forgotten ones.
Now one would say if these are the forgotten ones or the Lost Children, why I am writing about the team known as the Despicables; well they are the first team of this generation to emerge on the scene and even with the streets flooding with Dreamers, the UCAS fighting a revolution against the rebels and the structure of Seattle being redefined by a mayor who doesn’t fear to stand up against the corrupt corporations; one can say that the wind of change are blowing once again and this time we welcome this new team of runners into the bloody and violent world, though unlike their predecessors this team is truly one of the young.
The Despicables are a team comprised of nothing more than children and teenagers that have hung up their childish ways and toys for the adult responsibilities of fighting for their future and making sure their voice is heard. We spoke a little about this team when the reporters unmasked Andrew Yates as Toad and his band misfits; well it seems that this was more than just a band of roughens and angry youths that would be a flash in the night, we now welcome in the Despicables lead by Toad and his friend Salamander they have pooled their resources, skills and have become the next big deal within the shadows.
Unlike the older runners that work for the almighty credit and have firmly planted themselves within the bloody legacy of the runner, this team seems to be working directly for the fight for freedom and the salvation of Seattle. They have discovered Seattle’s true history and uncovered the truth about Old Seattle and now they fight against the tyrants that attempt to enslave the people, they fight against the rising dystopia and fight for their own future. They have become a serious problem for anyone that has been decreed an enemy to freedom and they prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the youth should never be ignored.
The Despicables hand has been forced and these children have forgone their childish ways to fight for their future, they are fighting for their freedom and fighting alongside their elders to restore Seattle to what it once was. This team of youths is the first of this new generation, they are the Lost Children and they shouldn’t be taken for granted. The team might be small in stature, have a combined age of just one founding father, but they have the dedication, the drive and motivation of runners far older. They have been outfitted with some of the hottest technology on the streets and have loaded their bodies with cyber and bio to give them the needed edge when fighting against their chosen enemy.
One thing stands true, the adults overlook and forget about the children and this has allowed the Despicables to complete some of the most dangerous operations that many adult runners would have failed to complete. They have struck a blow for freedom, they have entered the history books to stand tall alongside the teams of the ages, We have The Wolf Pack, The Mariners, The Harbingers and now we have The Despicables.
This team is very good at staying unnoticed and being forgotten that they will truly make an impact in the current events of today’s Seattle and now with the youth fighting for restoration of Old Seattle it brings into question why, and why are these youths risking everything to fight for something they have never experienced and only heard through old tales and dime novels. Does this mean that the Patriots have been speaking the truth, does this mean they are brainwashed youths lost in the dream of being legends or are the truly fighting for what they call their freedom, liberty and voice.
The Despicables are here to stay and they will have a major impact in the shadows, they have hailed in a new generation and they have nothing to lose. This team of youths has already left their legacy behind and has been accepted by their elders as equals, so the people of Seattle will not only have to worry about the adult runners but now they can’t even overlook a child or teenager as they might just be one of the Despicables; a team that has taken all the teachings of the prior generations to heart, a team that has no issue with killing and a team that is tired of being forgotten.
<< I do believe it is time for us to discuss this grouping of individuals. Remember to keep it professional, we deal in facts not fiction. – The Demurest Signing Off >>
I guess I can take up the mantle here. I will stay in red here to show the new data, but below I will post in black since I am the first. You know, a little etiquette explanation for the newbie readers.
First and foremost, I have to be honest. When it comes to the heading below, I would have thought we were dealing with their big brother team (both in terms of age and lineage) since they spent much more time being “lost”, but I digress. The Despicables is the new team of runners on the street and is making it “OK” to be a kid and upgrade from stealing milk and juice at the lunch line to government secrets and goods from storehouses. They are popularising runners in a way never before seen, which has had the backlash of creating a new age of younger dreamer. This epidemic has hit those who are as young as 11 and believe that they are the future. These little bastards pose a particularly huge issue because (despite what the media says) most runners have a heart at least for saving kids. Hell, you can find footage of Plymouth raising barriers and Gargoyle “moving” tanks away from little kids as recently as a few weeks ago. Yet now we have kids who, while being carried to safety, will try to pull a gun and shoot these runners while they help them. A true shame and likely something that may change the landscape of the streets. And people wonder why we are fed up….
The Lost Children
Ah yes, the Toad. He and his spiritual friend Frogger have had quite the difficulty running accross the road. In his early days he had his time running from the police, at least till his brother’s friend bailed him out and got him off the list. He began his running while still in middle school. During the day he worked on his math and science classes and then got home to work on his shooting and swinging skills. While his favorite weapon is a bat, it is obvious based on his recent battle sightings that he has recently picked up a dangerous blade. The change in weapon is rumored to be due to his involvement with the Sentinels as they don’t generally support anything without a bullet or a sharp edge. This should concern us all since the Sentinels do not recruit often. There are only two reported new members within their order within the last several decades. The second is only known to some footage one of our drones caught over Egypt before it was shot down, and it showed both Toad and Achiles being trained by several individuals. We don’t know who do to quality issues likely caused by adept abilities, but the location and the fact that Crosshair’s song was playing when we were shot down is very telling. This concerns us a large amount because the Sentinels are known for recruiting family on occasion and with the entry of a hand general there are many dangerous individuals that could be recuited, though we will save that for when we work on that group at another time.
Toad as a runner has managed to work his way up in the world and like his father and uncle he has followed his own brother in making history. He has brought together a very powerful team that has done a lot of work for their cause. I should make it clear that while I do not support the concept of rebellion, the UCAS is certainly in need of change. I know that we report facts, but I would like to note (as a personal opinion) I am glad to see that the people who this runner is connected to have FINALLY started using legal means to change things. Regardless of your opinion, working to win an election is always preferable to murder and espionage. Anyway, back to Toad he has had a significant effect on the streets. He has brought many other children around his age into the fold as well as managed to obtain membership on the prestigious Emerald City Defenders.
Most recently The Despicables have taken up residence with the Harbingers. It is almost sweet to see them be enveloped by the larger team, almost like a family hug. In fact many of the people his brother has formed relationships with have decided to form under the banner of the Harbingers, thought they did have the sense to wait until the leadership changed to tooth and axe instead of words. In that base there are more legends than I can shake a stick at from the members of the Devil’s Rejects, the remainder of Denver in Ruination (may the lost souls of that place rest in peace). There are even rumors started by another writer that there is another legendary group known as the Swamp Rats there. I have never heard of them, but that means either they don’t actually exist, or they are actually that good. If its the latter, then we should all be afraid.
Well, that is what I have for you all on Toad and his current whereabouts. Where he plans to hop next is unknown, but wherever it is I’m sure we will see it on the news; the Yates line never does anything without making the front page.
Walter Krieghoff (Salamander):
Before I even begin working on this runner (and boy is there some stuff to unpack), I should note that his handle doesn’t make much sense to me. In my humble opinion I think it should belong to the Night Queen since a salamander usually implies a fire dragon, but I suppose that is less fact and more opinion. I will try to do my job a little better.
First things first, the last name here says and implies most of what I will say. The Krieghoff clan is basically the Jamestowns and Grimms of Seattle (where the other two are more continental and global respectively). They have taken Seattle as theirs and have built quite a stronghold. They currently hold both the money and electoral offices of Seattle as their own, and anyone who does something they do not like feels their wrath. Think I’m kidding? Just ask the Upper Settle district. When was the last time they got a food or water delivery again?
Salamander is known as being the number two on the team since its inception, though recently it looks like there has been a shift regarding the power structure. When more is known I will report it. That said, Salamander is quite skilled himself, though maybe not in combat. His machinations and inventions are exceptional. He as shown his ability to reverse engineer enemy tech and work through new developments in combat machines several times. Likely due to the near infinite money and tutelage that his family has access to he has been taught and mentored by some of the best. This will likely become a bit of a theme for the members of this family (and team in general). This is the case because this entire team is a bunch of legacies. Their parents, siblings, uncles, guardians, etc have massive connections in the underground and vast wealth to funnel their children. Think about it, how did you think these runners have access to DAOD so quickly after they start. You don’t think Bilbo earned millions credits on his own to turn into 5k sticks do you?!
I digress, but the reality is that every member of this team didn’t start at square one like most, they started with the equipment and training of a veteran runner and are working their way up from there. Otherwise, how would they make their way to legend status so quickly? Enjoy watching these pampered runners grow up. It will be interesting to see how far they can go.
Warren Krieghoff (Serpent): (Serpent has been killed during the Krieghoff War)
Crystal McMillian (Firefly): (Firefly has been killed during the Krieghoff War)
Ah, another legacy, though at least this one is a bit more rare. As far as we know there are only three Mosleys in the streets (though that can certainly change at any time). Crematorium has one of the more difficult starts on the street. Unlike the others on this page he wasn’t groomed from a young age. He simply watched his father get attacked by Vandals and instead of dying to the bullets he slaughtered them all with his cyber spurs. Needless to say this let the cat out of the bag regarding what his father actually did for a living.
Crematorium as a runner has made his way through the world with this band of children by learning his fathers trade, though he prefers to incinerate his tracks instead of take them apart. This yields less money, but is certainly a lot less work (a trend with many of this generation, always trying to do things the easy way). He has learned the trick of charging the family for he remains through the legitimate funeral homes his father owns and in this way he has truly become part of the family business.
Much like his father Crematorium, as by way of joining this team, has joined the rebellion to try and remove the UCAS forcibly. While he may not have the potence that the Original, or Even Next Generation, runners have it is needless to say that he stands alongside the rest of his team as being the Wolf Pack of the Lost Children. He is another legend in the making, and I am sure we will be hearing from him for decades to come if he manages to stay among the breathing. Just be wary if a funeral home opens in your section of town.
Billy Brunswick (Short Circuit):
Well now, talk about a last name that we don’t see very often. Looks like the Thorpe’s have thrown their child into the field. Truthfully, we didn’t know that Tackle Box had a kid in the business, but this obviously exposes him. Burner is quite the rigger and wields the drill truck like an extension of his person. Furthermore, within it it are the flamethrowers that he gets his name from. That is right folks, in a world with riggers using vehicle grade ammunition and up this young man prefers to burn his enemies. I guess his father had Holiday over a few too many times and an impression was made. After all, children are very impressionable in the end. Their elder siblings, parents, and family help to mold and shape them with what direction they choose. I just hope that it was Holiday talking with this young man, for if it was Barbecue then the diet of the Despicables may be very concerning.
Ronnie Meisner (Triple X):
Ah yes, another of the Grimm legacies. In fact all of their bloodline’s youngest are represented here (other than the Weinstocks that is; Puck is covered by Ecto One). The Meisner’s are an interesting bunch among the Grimm. Where as the Grimm and Yates are quick to lash out and the Rodgers are just plain off their rockers, the Meisners are cold and calculating. They show practically no emotion under any circumstance, and this according to my contacts is true of Triple X as well. From our reports his favorite weapon is a bola that removes the head and all he does is smirk. If you haven’t ever seen a beheading, it is absolutely disgusting. Humans were never meant to see the interior of their bodies like one does the trunk of a tree after cutting it down. Along with the use of this weapon, Triple X has shown significant capabilities as an adept and truly dangerous hand to hand capabilities. If you see this childer around know that he may not be as powerful as his elders, but like the rest regardless of how little time he has spent on the streets he is extremely dangerous. The only question that still remains is, where are his ice powers?
Lilith Krieghoff (Night Queen): (The Night Queen Was Killed During the Krieghoff War)
Before I begin here, let me just say that giving the name Lilith to a child should be banned in the known world. No baby is a sex demon and even if they are evil they should not have to live with that name as their legal one. Now, on to the Queen of the Night (and Hellblast). As you know, there are many mages that specialize in a spell. This is nothing new and started back before even the Founders hit the street (yes Maleficent, we are looking at you and polymorph). That said, ever since the Next Generation finished out this became less of a fad. Fewer mages went too “deep” into a spell and most went “wide” in order to have a spell for nearly any occasion. While some blame Waldo for this approach, it nonetheless set into most. That is, until the Night Queen appeared. You see, she decided that Ringmaster was right all those years ago and the only way to deal with an enemy is to incinerate them. Now normally that would mean going through the trouble of raising your spell bit by bit and learning to endure the agonizing pain of casting the Hellblast. Worry not though my readers, for struggle and self sacrifice is not the Krieghoff way! This youngin managed to have her family splurge on the best tutor around, the Shyster! Now, there are rumors as to why this man would even take the job. Most agree its because he would find it funny if another mage gave his son a run for his money, but this matters not here. The Night Queen has become the lost child that found her spell, and man can she cast it! It may knock here out at times, but that is the price of greatness in the shadows I suppose. For those paying attention, yes now is the time to invest in the Biotech Aspirin line….
Sharon McMasters (Wyld): (Wyld Has been Apprehended and has been sentenced to 100 years in Prison for murder)
Atticus Hill (Crimson):
Well well well, who do we have here? Why, none other than the little pup of two legends. That’s right folks this is the whelp of Raptor and Crazy Glue. Think what you may about his parents, but you can be sure the DNA is potent with this one. Even among the legacies of the Brothers Grimm, this young man can still stand proud and tall.
So, now that the introductions are out of the way, let us talk less about his family ties and more about Crimson himself. This young lad certainly earned his nickname. Wherever he goes blood and gore are left en masse. The blood that runs through his veins grants him powers similar to his father. While we don’t know if he has his mother’s way with words, we do know his claws and fangs do quite a bit of talking. Getting into a fight with this youngin is like battling with a wild animal, only this one doesn’t just have humanlike intelligence, but is instead a master hunter. Rumors on the street also place him on the pole of the Crystal Dragon ninja clan. This is extremely frightening given that those ninja are not known for being weak. How long he has been a member, along with his rank within the clan, is unknown, but it is assumed that if he is well known enough to have been outed that he must not be a novice.
As with all of these dangerous children do be careful readers, for this man is very dangerous. Without being armed he is a lethal threat, he only needs his teeth.
Allen Grimm (Ecto One):
Well now, isn’t this a sight to behold. While the leaders of this team have quite the legacy there is nothing quite like the elders of the Grimm family. If you are looking for a supreme legacy, one for the ages, there is not besting this bloodline. Not a single member is below legend status, and even the child known as Ecto One fits that description well. We know that he has been in operation for much longer than the rest of his team by ways of old war records. It would appear if you become immortal too early you never quite grow up.
Ecto One truly takes after his elder in a manner which both Toad and his brother missed, he leads from behind the strings. While Toad is the head of the team, you would be hard pressed to find anyone on the team to say that any of them can best Ecto in combat or experience. Whether it is working with the Despicables or the Tribe Ecto One is the person who shows up to save the day. He is a very experienced sniper as well as expert hand to hand and blade to blade combat agent. Wherever he goes the stench of death can be found. If you are his enemy, then you will be taken out. How he exists on the Tribe does worry me, but it is possible that entire group is just pulling the wool over us all. We will have to wait and see.
Honestly I could go on and on regarding the family and exploits of this runner, but let us just leave it here. If you deal with the Despicables it isn’t the other members on this list that you need to worry about, it is this one. While they are all dangerous, Ecto is the Crab of the Despicables. Just like you don’t want to anger the crustacean, you don’t want to incur the wrath of this ghost, for one chance is all you get.
Bobbie Jamestown (Lightning Kidd):
Alright, this is seriously a scary thought. We knew that the Grimm were working in this team along with the Krieghoffs, but the Jamestowns too?! Jesus Christ, what legendary family line didn’t they tap for this one? It’s like a greatest hits album for who is who in the runner world. Well, welcome to the streets little Bobbie. I personally think the name is a bit dumb, I would have gone with “Pin” since she is a pain to whoever she deals with.
What do we know about her? Not a hell of a lot since she is basically brand new to this team. What we do know is that by virtue of being a Jamestown she is almost certainly a gunslinger adept. With this comes the likelihood of her shooting curved bullets that get around corners. That shit honestly scares the crap out of me. I’m kind of surprised they teach that kind of adept ability so freely, but I guess there are some families that actually train their young as long as their future isn’t too grimm….. Good luck Pin, don’t make too many friends too easily or they may dump your ass in a gutter!
Solomon “Punk” Rodgers (DK):
Well fuck, there is another one. Kinda thought these had all died out to be honest, or at least that is what Ringmaster would have you think anyway. I have to be direct, this bloodline is literally fucking insane. The most “normal” individual is probably Marshall, but from reports I have seen he is losing his mind. Recently he was cited simply yelling at the enemy of his family known as Legion “No!” and pointing while his friends and brother did all the work. Marshall, you need to seek some help before you become like your father!
DK is an unknown quantity on the streets. We have extremely limited information on him. Here is what we do know, first and foremost he is sane (a rarity for this family). He is a cybered adept of some significant power. His exact circle is unknown, but all the circles on the despicables are known to be at least in the upper 2 digits if not higher. This is extremely frightening for the last time levels in that neighborhood were recorded were the originals and Billy’s boys. We don’t know which of the Rodgers it is that he is related to, thought we are working on it. For the love of god just hope it isn’t Ringmaster or else the world may burn if he gets greased by someone. On the bright side, at least Hellblast won’t be coming out of his eyes too soon….
Ethan Oliver (Base 12): Well well, quite the interesting young individual here. Strangely enough, this young man is the only dual Harbinger/Despicable in the group. One might have originally thought that we would have a Stamps And Apex situation here, but it looks like the boss on this team doesn’t want the help of his older brother (the embarrassment of the family I suppose). Like most of these kids this one has quite the legacy as well. His father is the well known General Oliver of the Bounty Hunters guild and yes, that means he has all of them as backup. There is an old story that is told among the officers that when one of theirs went after poor little Base 12 they felt the full might of the Guild. It took Base 12 himself trying to save the officer’s life (along with a call to a friend) in order to spare most, if not all of the officers in PP1. Funny enough, this kid very quickly bonded to the original Harbingers leader despite being recruited by then Law Dog. There isn’t any documentation as to why the then Death’s Hand general (see the news for updates on this) took a shine to the kid, though it is assumed that it must have been something with his lineage. In any event Base 12 has become quite the monster in his own right with training from the Bounty Hunters as well as the Harbingers, Despicables, and the other groups within the large base. This is one kid who is not only dangerous, but has connections. Not many people are willing to wipe out PP1 in your defense, so just imagine what they will do to a less established locale. Be wary for this one follows the same rule as Billy and the boys, it isn’t the Base 12 you see to be worries about, its the Base 2 that you don’t……..
