Warden Richard Clark

The Seattle Department of Corrections has been a subsidiary of the Seattle Police Department from the earliest days of Seattle’s humble beginnings. This Division used to be governed by multiple wardens and many different guards for each prison in the system, during the chaos the erupted in the summer of 2017 the corrections department merged into one single unit under the ever watching eye of Richard Clark. Under his command he has dealt with the worst the city can throw at him and has even had to deal with multiple escapes and assassination attempts on his life. Warden Clark’s answer to this was to apply a chock hold onto the department and erect some of the fiercest super maximum prisons the world has ever scene and transfer all prisoners into the few over the many.

He also over saw Seattle’s cryogenics prison, till that was deemed inhumane and closed down for good in 2060. Though Warden Clark has been working on a new cryogenics system and has been testing it in his newest brain child the feared prison known simply as the Vault. The Vault was erected as a response to runners being able to gain access to the super max prisons and either rescue a prisoner or execute staff and prisoner alike. The Vault is an impenetrable fortress that is ever evolving to meet the demands of the newest technology, if it is ever breeched the Vault will become even tighter and a second breech will be imposable. The reason the Vault is so feared is that once inside you are property of Warden Clark and he can do with you as he see’s fit. This man has been given the absolute authority over life and death for any who reside inside the Vault, this means he has taken civil liberties back to the dark age. Once sentenced to the Vault a prisoner is stripped of their Serial Identification Number and branded with a bar code that becomes their new identity for the remaining of their natural life.

Warden Clark has also begun to downsize again, by selling off the remaining super maximum prisons save the Vault, Wasteland Women’s Prison and the Harrisburg Island Super Maximum . The remaining prisons have been sold to corporations and are becoming privatized, Warden Clark feels that the other prisons have two may weakness and will cost too much to upgrade to combat the modern criminal. He has sunk a vast amount of his personal wealth into the remaining two prisons, and with the return of the death penalty in Seattle he has erected new gallows at both prisoners that comply to the new standards of humane executions.

The Corrections Department is always looking for qualified candidates to serve as guards, executioners, lab technicians, medical staff and even labour jobs such as grave diggers, kitchen staff and grounds keepers as he forbids the inmates to work inside the prison. He uses the prisoners as steady supply of blood, plasma and reproductive cells to sell for funds and keeps them locked in their cells 23 hours a day. The Prisoners never leave any of Warden Clark’s prisons alive, everyone instantly receives a life sentence if not the death penalty regardless of their actual sentence. He is able to enforce a clause that was written into the cities by-laws in the latter part of the nineteenth century and has never been repealed.

Though under the rule of Warden Clark, crime in Seattle is down over 30% and he keeps a stern eye as to what is going on around him and within his chain of command. He has been gifted with a genetic immortality and it seems that he will be ruling the Department of Corrections for many more years to come. Warden Clark is a very strict and stern man, that does not tolerate blasphemy, homosexual behaviour, and any sort of unrest in his prisons and will enforce his will over those offenders in the strictest of fashion. The only prison you can escape alive from is the Seattle Jail House in the court district, this is under the thumb of Warden Clark, but this is for small time offenders and petty criminals. Though he does enforce his will within the jail house and a simple sentence can become a trip into the big house quickly, if the convict is not careful.

So as the old poem states Abandon All Hope Ye Who Enter Here….. this is never made clearer then when the convict enters the world of Richard Clark and becomes nothing more then a number to be used, abused and thrown away and forgotten. So as Richard Clark states ” Unless you want to throw away your liberties and your life, live an honest life cause all criminals sins will be paid in full and I am the Sin Collector and this is your purgatory.” So when it comes to the corrections department it’s all up to Richard Clark as to what happens to the inmates that reside in his prisons, so best to stay on your best behaviour and keep your nose clean and avoid being a permanent guest with Warden Richard Clark.

Crimes that can be death by hanging can be sentenced under the new constitution: First and Second Degree Murder, Rape, Treason, Acts of Terrorism, Kidnapping of anyone under the age of 18 or that leads to the death of the kidnapped victim, Murder of a Police Officer, Murder of any Officer of the Court or Medical Examiners office, Child Molestation, Arson that leads to the death of any resident, squatter or emergency personnel, Possession of Class 1 Cybernetic or Bio-Organic implants, Armed Robbery that leads to murder, Vehicular Manslaughter, Possession of Class 1 Military Hardware and Explosives, and Crimes Against Humanity.

Meet the Staff

 Richard Clark: The iron fisted ruler of the corrections department, Mr. Clark is very old fashioned in his views and traditions and enforces these upon all who reside in any of his prisons. He only allows one religion to be worshipped and any other faith is quickly dealt with, he feeds his prisoners low grade Kibble and water, they have black and white televisions that only receive the Catholic, Weather Channels as well as Public Broadcasting. This is one warden you never want to be under as a inmate, he is harsh and treats his inmates as less then human meaning with a quick stroke of a pen he can send a lifer to the gallows and he has never once approved anyone’s parole. So under Warden Clark your ass belongs to him, so you better make piece with your maker, cause you can quickly end up dangling from a noose or being test frozen.

 Captain John Richmond: Captain Richmond aka the Bear is Warden Clark’s right hand man, this beast has been working in the corrections department for decades and he makes sure that Warden Clark’s will is enforced and he does so through brutality and terror tactics. See Captain Richmond is a bear shape-shifter and he is a mean Kodiak that has enjoyed the taste of human flesh on a number of occasions, Bear primarily works out of the Vault where he hunts on a nightly basis for another victim to call his dinner. Though as the second in command and the Wardens right hand Bear can be in anyone of the Wardens prisons at any given point. The inmates all know about the Bear and they fear when they see Captain Richmond doing his rounds, cause that could very easily mean someone is going to vanish. Bear has also adapted to being able to swallow the anti-magic serum and pass it through his system unabated so this monster is always at full capacity when he is on the clock. Bear is the wardens out reaching arm so best to stay off the Clark’s radar, unless you enjoy the prospect of meeting Bear face to face.

 Lt. George Simpson: This is the prisons chief executioner, he is displaying part of the restraints that he uses to keep the prisoner from struggling and causing the rope to slip. This man is a master hangman and the best in the business, he has officially hung over 500 inmates in a very short period of time. This number keeps growing as the years go on, also he is like Bear and it is believed that he is responsible for multiple inmates going missing, as he is allowed to hunt in his natural form within the confines of the prisons them self. His favourite hunting grounds are the Harrisburg Island Prison and for very good reason as he is a salt water crocodile and can travel to and from the prison with ease. This man is a predator and he is loyal to his core to Warden Clark and the Seattle Prison system, this is one man you never want to come face to face with. He also holds the authority to have a lifer hanged, with no warning, no appeal, and no jury if Salty decides you are to be strung up well kiss your ass goodbye you have just been given a expiration date of at most a day.

 Chief Hangman Martin Harrison: Martin is the newest to lend his advanced skills of hanging to the Department of Corrections, though Harrison isn’t a rookie in the art of Hanging and has written dozens of books on the subject, taught the Science of Hanging in multiple law enforcement academies and personally executed over a thousand convicted criminals. He is a former British executioner that has brought his skills of the rope over to America, he still holds the record for the fastest hanging to date six seconds from entering the death chamber to pulling the lever and dropping the convict. Harrison’s specialised approach to hangings, is supposed to reduce the stress on the prisoner and make sure death is instant as their spinal column is severed cleanly and death swoops in. Harrison also is responsible for cleaning and preparing the body to go to the mortuary or the morgue depending on the court order and if the family wishes to claim the deceased. Harrison makes certain that the condemned’s last seconds of life are handled with dignity and their remains are treated with respect, seeing that once they have been hanged their sentence is done and they are innocent in his eyes after paying the ultimate price for their crimes.
