Mariners
The mighty Mariners have returned to Seattle and they are here to stay this time, the stage has been set and the dice have been rolled the shadows will be turned upside down as one of the mightiest teams of there day returns to play the game and leave their impact in the state of affairs. The Mariners disbanded within the 2060’s as it’s membership grew out of control, the runners within would squabble over the events of the Shadow War and a line was drawn that couldn’t be crossed. This would give birth to some of the legendary teams we would know today as both the Wind Runners and Unknown Soldiers would be spawned from this division and eventually these teams reunited out of necessity to form Helix after the death of Crazy Glue and the war between friends as the War in the Shadows would hit it’s violent climax. Though it seems that the need for the hero’s of old to return is now and the stage has been set for the return of this team and the Mariners have truly lived up to their motto of “Mariner For Life!”
I will not go to much into the what this team has done in the past, seeing that the Mariners in all their incarnations have been reported on many times for the last two decades and their are hundreds of reference sources that can be found on the subject. Though what I will report on is that the return of the Mariners fully seals this cities fate into the return of Old Seattle, with the final piece of the puzzle being placed into the great game that is the shadows. The Mariners return also coincides with the return of their sworn enemy the Dreamers and the British invasion, the citizens that are old enough to remember the days during the time of the Next Generation will known what the streets will become as blood will flow freely and life is traded cheaply. Now it seems that the Mariners have formed a bond with the cities oldest and most deadly of teams the Wolf Pack, once rivals of different generations; now they are allies and brothers in arms.
With the return of the Mariners it seems that Helix will be fading away or maybe Helix will become a melting pot of the generations while the Mariners remain true to their cause and stay to their generational division. Though this is just an assumption and conjecture so I can’t be truly certain what will become of Helix seeing that many of it’s members are also Mariners. This does mean that many of the New Breed that have remained freelance will have a home to go to as the Mariners and Helix will gladly welcome the soldiers of the New Breed in their conflict against the Dreamers.
Old Seattle has returned the rules have been set and the city has been dealt a dead man’s hand, it seems that the age of the runner is once again upon us, the blending of the Bloody Age and the Bloody Legacy will forge into 2074 and beyond creating a age of violence, war and conflict as the blood ounce again fills the gutters and the citizens are forced to live in fear of becoming a statistic to the cities ever rising violent crime rate. The Mariners are both a cure and blessing that have been cast down upon us, for the citizens are divided once again as the runners take centre stage in the grand illusion that is the shadows; may God have mercy on all of us as we are cast back into Old Seattle and the Rise of the Bloody Age.

The
Mariners
Of
Old Seattle
I will be continually be updating this page as members of the Mariners of old return to the shadows in the coming days; I will also be not putting these people in any sort of order as the internal structure of the Mariners is currently unknown, this is just an informative page and will be updated as the information becomes available.
Robert Hill (Raptor): The mighty Raptor was assumed to have fallen during one of the many battles for Seattle seeing that he hasn’t been seen in months. We know now two things for certain Raptor is quite alive and so is Former Mayor Robert Hill, it seems that this man was able to pull the wool over the entire city for decades as he lived a double life and it wasn’t till he became the face of Seattle that it started to unravel and he needed to play possum to escape the public outcry and scrutiny to come. Raptor is a serious threat but he is also a serious ally to have in the current political arena that is the streets, with the beast back the streets are once again his hunting ground and we are to be his prey if we are not careful.
Switch Doctor (Switch): The infamous Switch Doctor or just Switch for short is back among his friends and allies of the Mariners, it seems that even this legend can only pushed so far before declaring his allegiances. One of the original Mariners this runner has quite a reputation and is wanted throughout the UCAS for everything under the sun. Switch is the true embodiment of what it means to be a runner and this man could careless what people think of him. With Switch back at the helm, the Mariners will be destined for a triumphant return, though the Dreamers will become his number one target and he has many chip operations prepared to thin the herd.
Joey Vanderbilt (Fraggle): The bouncer of the Jackal’s Lantern has once again donned his Mariners cap once again and rejoined his brothers in arms. The streets have once again flooded with the Dreamers and this time Fraggle will not be sitting by and watching from the sidelines. The war of the shadows is still quite fresh in his memory and the old wounds will keep him fighting night after night as the war rages on once again. This old timer will stand vigilant at the last bastion of sanctuary the Mariners have and make certain “None Shall Pass.”
Jeremy McNair (King): The former commissioner of Seattle Police Department is none other than the mighty King, this is in fact terrifying that he was able to slip past all forms of security and wear the badge; seeing King is a seriously wanted felon and faces the death sentence in multiple states as well as Seattle. Though for a man that can cause people to commit suicide rather than fighting him, it is a no wonder he is still free of handcuffs. King once walked through a nuclear bomb at ground zero, so I seriously doubt anything can stale this runner. Like Raptor it seems that King has returned to the his origins and has shed his double life, with his wife deceased this man has nothing to loose and everything to gain; so if you see King coming it’s best to just bow before him and hail to the King.
Hector Krieghoff (Bonfire): Well a Krieghoff within the Mariners is something I didn’t see coming. This man hails from the days of Old Seattle when the Founders walked the streets; though being a Krieghoff he might have only took to the shadows later in the game. This is the legendary Bonfire and this man is one tough bastard, he is high up in the Krieghoff tree of power and can with a single call destroy any enemy that stands before him, let alone with his own prowess. Why Bonfire would put his Mariners cap back on is a mystery but this does cause concern as to the political state of affairs within Seattle, a Krieghoff doesn’t do anything without a damned good reason.
Xavier Douglas (Evergreen): Well we finally captured a colour image of Evergreen the other day when he was ordering food at the local burger joint. Other than that it is a mystery as to his return, though with the Dreamers once again running a muck it could explain why this legend has come out of retirement at it seems that like a Father with his sons, the rest of the lost children of the Mariners just followed in Papa’s footsteps.
Everett Mitchell (Wickerman): This is both terrifying and surprising at the same time, the Wickerman was assumed to be a consummate freelancer and never aligned to any team or agency. Well it seems that he was one of the original Mariners that split from the team during the troubling days and found solace in freelance work. Though for the Wickerman to return to the Mariners means that something big is coming and he has decreed it best to reunite with the brothers of Mariners. With Wickerman back in action it’s best to sit back and watch the madness unfold, for it will be one hell of a ride from this crazy SOB.
Elmer Krieghoff (Proxy): Another Krieghoff has been exposed as a Mariner, well this does explain allot about their early days and why so many avoided arrest as Proxy is master of forensic forgery and crime scene manipulation. This man now shows that he is more than scientist and actually quite skilled in many other areas as well, as a Mariner he will be called on to do some of the most dangerous and deadly operations to date. Proxy is a bit of an enigma, though he has been around for quite sometime and has been working with the best of the streets, if they trust him why am I to worry….I know he is a Krieghoff thats why!
Edgar Grayson (Phoenix): Well before the Devils Rejects their was the Mariners and for this old grandfather that retired from the game to raise his family away from the dangers of the streets, Edgar has been thrown back into the cauldron and is fully back in operation. Phoenix might be a Reject but he is a Mariner first and foremost, I now have a slight concern that further Rejects will pull double duty with this original team and their insanity will begin to corrupt the flock…One word people “Joker!”..,Worry!
Edwin Forester (Tesla): Well it’s the infamous Tesla and I guess he was once a Mariner before going solo and then joining the Rejects. This man is a master decker and their is no data bank that is safe from his grasp, even the mighty Banker is no match for the likes of Tesla; and now he has returned to his original flock. Tesla marks the second Reject to return to his original team though like Phoenix he hasn’t left the Rejects either, for a living legend like Tesla it will be a wonder what he bring to the table and once he begins focusing on the Dreamers well…we all should be worried this man is the reason Renraku Arcologies AI system went rogue and this man has been pulling the strings of Aries Arms for many years now; Long Live the Mighty Tesla…Keep sticking it to the corporate elite and revel in the chaos.
Raven McCarty (Nightshade): The Queen of the Mana Bolt has once taken her place alongside the other Mariners, she has been fighting her entire life and the shadows are all Nightshade knows; she will once again fight to protect her livelihood and keep the streets clear of the problematic dreamers. Nightshade now stands in alliance with runners of all generations as we hail in the Bloody Age, this is one war she is more than prepared to fight and will defend Seattle from all enemies.
Henry McCarty (Quickdraw): Well the team founder is back with the Mariners thats a surprise…Nope not really, it would be more of a surprise if Quick didn’t return to the Mariners and became a stiff in a suit working behind a desk five days a week. Well that kinda happened as we now know that he is the former CEO and President of Aztec where he was slowly running the company into the ground and laundering billions of credits from them over the course of his tenure. Quick proved that even when a runner goes legit they are still a criminal and facing multiple death sentences for his crimes he has openly returned to the streets to pick up where he left off during the Shadow War. Quickdraw is a true legend and has access to some of the worlds most expensive and dangerous weapons, chrome and magical equipment that he gladly shares with his wife Nightshade, so be very cautious when it comes to dealing with this living legend.
Akira Hirotaka (Edge): The master swordsman and hunter of all whom he considers a problem and let we warn you Edge is a serious threat to all that is sane and safe. This man is a legendary physical adept of unknown power, he is capable of slicing bullets out of the air and killing hundreds within mere seconds. Edge will have no issue with slicing down the dreamers once again and sending their pieces back home to their families. Edge is an original Mariner that has proudly returned to his roots and more than willing to make sure this is one blood soaked age.
Rodger Simpson (Witcher): This old time mercenary of the Mariners has not been scene for quite sometime and many thought he had fallen in battle in some god forsaken hellhole, and many where actually hoping this was the case as the Witcher is not known for making and keeping friends. This old bastard has surprised everyone with his return to the streets of Seattle and his recent warring actions against the British forces in downtown, though for the Witcher he is glad to the be recognised as the legend he truly is and he will gladly take up arms against the Dreamers once again. Witcher and Mad Dog are two bastards that will be sending pieces of the fallen dreamers back to their loved ones and extorting the grief stricken families for money to return the rest of the body. As I said Witcher is a real bastard and only a true criminal could find this man tolerable and call him a friend.
Claw: Another consummate runner is the man known only as Claw, this man has been a scourge of the city for two decades and has even escaped death at the Battle of Fort Lewis. Claw is a master of mass destruction and will use naval grade weapons to settle an argument, it isn’t a surprise that Claw was welcomed back into the Mariners and seeing that he is close friends with Tesla one can only worry and I mean worry that Claw doesn’t do anything stupid…I mean seriously this man is capable of levelling Seattle and he has already held the city hostage once before, now we are in a war and this is where he excels. Claw is a wildcard and one that loves the spotlight so expect destruction, chaos and bloodshed on a grand scale with this Mariner on the prowl.
Lewis DiCane (Desperado): A true gunslinger that has wondered out of Texas to join the ranks of the Mariners to escape the Electric Chair or Hangman’s Noose back home for a multiple murder with racial motivations. The Desperado is just a old fashioned gunfighter that cares little for any lives that he shatters during a job; this man returning to the Mariners is no surprise as he feels the need to let the world know he is still alive and still murdering for a living. You can bet that he will use his family connections to stay out of jail with the police and you can bet that he will gladly kill any enemy of Seattle let it be British, UCAS or Dreamer all are equal in front of his pistols.
Roger Deadman (Scout): The most dangerous and deadly of the snipers to ever live is a Mariner well thats a surprise really, I figured Scout for total freelance during those days. Though with his current alliance with the Deaths Hand this is something that should be monitored carefully, their is no one alive that can survive the Scout and with his custom rifle and beyond legendary skill this sniper is something to fear. With his eyes in the sky watching out for the Dreamers, The British and UCAS forces it will be only a matter of time before the bodies begin to pile up as they get scouted and tagged.
Doc Anderson (Mad Dog): Well Mad Dog was once a Mariner though he quickly went solo do to a conflict of interests within the Texas Elite, but this hunter didn’t stay inactive during the Shadow War either, this man would hunt the young dreamers like they were ducks and he was hidden within his blind. Mad Dog would then scalp, remove ears, noses, and hands; he would then send these parts back to the families as a warning of what happens to dreamers that come to Seattle. Mad Dog would at times extort the families for thousands of credits to receive the location of their fallen kin’s body, though even if they paid up their would be nothing to claim as Mad Dog had already sold the body to a ripper doc. Mad Dog has been welcomed back into the Mariners and with the dawn of the Bloody Age upon us it seems Mad Dog is once again in his element and lets just say their will be gallons of blood flowing freely thanks to Mad Dog as well as gallons of tears from the relatives of his victims.
Martin W Harrison (Riddler): The Riddler is one of the original Mariners and this means that even Europe’s finest have found a place among this team of legends. The Riddler might not have been engaged within the Shadow War as he was back in England during those days, though this former hangman is back in the states and soon all will understand that they are created equal in the eyes of the hangman. He will no doubtfully get involved in the new war of the Shadows and he will be able to show us Yankee’s why the English hangman where so sought out as he begins to string up the dreamers one by one; oh did I mention that he is also the current acting District Attorney for all of Seattle so good luck if you think any victim of the Mariners will ever see justice.
David Branch (Eagle): Now here be the man that once held the Riddlers current job, and guess what he is a runner and a former member of the Unknown Soldiers and originally a Mariner before the division. Branch is a master lawyer and even Malone feared facing his boss in the courtroom, this man is a physical adept and shapeshifter so he can be anywhere at anytime. Be warned the Eagle has been active for multiple decades and is close personal friends with some very dangerous people. This man is very political he will be the man that will be standing in any Mariners corner if the police do slap the cuffs on them, and seeing no one dares to face Branch in the courtroom justice will never be found; Eagle is just as deadly on the battlefield so you have been warned and do yourself a favour keep one eye to the sky or you might fall victim to the screeching swooping talons of an eagle.
Rodger Willows (Ditto): The Street kid named Ditto is among the original Mariners, though this kid was one of the youngest to stand with his brothers inside one of the most famous teams to date. Ditto was the kid of the team and Evergreen the Father of the team, it seems that age is not a concern when it comes to raw skill and dedication. Though now Ditto is a full fledged street samurai and more than a handful for any dreamer, British soldier or UCAS national that dares to stand in his path, Ditto might claim that he fights for justice, though he is just like every other member of this squad; he fights for his livelihood and to damned with all the innocent lives that will be lost once the Mariners take action against the Dreamers once again. It looks like history is repeating itself and now it will be Ditto’s turn to shine as a life long killer and runner.
Drake Bellows (Arrow): Well surprise, surprise the legendary archer has returned to his original team of runners, Arrow was never content with the teams division though he was happy to see his ex go separate ways and join the Pain Brigade and eventually the Unknown Soldiers. Though it must have been odd for this man of vengeance to be a groomsman at the wedding of McNair and his bride to be Malice seeing that this was his hated ex. Arrow has never fully gotten over whatever scorn happened between him and Malice, though he has focused his rage into his work and become one of the most dangerous archers within Seattle. He will gladly join the fight against the invaders, the government and the dreamers once again; Arrow will give many dreamers a one way trip to the city morgue with an arrow in their chest. He is a bitter and resentful runner and one that has killed to keep his crown as the best archer within Seattle so a bit of lifesaving advice “Never claim to be the best archer in Seattle.” or you could find yourself on the business end of his bow or even worse the business end of Quickdraw’s gun.
Harvey Washington (Emperor): All Hail the Emperor this is another old timer to be part of the Mariners back during the early days of the teams inception; like Evergreen this man would only remain active for a short period of time before slipping back into the shadows and become nothing more than a fleeting memory. It seems that with the rise of the dreamers and the need for the Mariners once again even fossils such as Emperor are unearthing themselves once again. Emperor is a master of deception and his level of education surpasses any known runner, this man is dangerous on multiple levels and just being in his presence could be quite lethal so be very careful around this old enigma.
Lester McCarthy (Talon): Well the return of Talon can mean only one thing the poop has really hit the fan! This gunfighter is the real deal and like many of those that came before him the buck stops here, their has been no one since Talon to ever reach his level and he makes damned certain that he stays on the top of the food chain. This Mariner of Old Seattle has sent countless to the grave and he plans to continue this process into the new age, Talon is no stranger when it comes to war and fighting within the blood soaked streets; so to see him once again don his Mariner cap is quite nerve racking and if you are planning a trip to Seattle in the foreseeable future “DON’T!” as Talon does not discriminate and his bullets come with a one way trip to our cities fine morgue.
Edward Churchill (Empire): This Old Mariner has returned to make sure the streets he calls home are well protected and no one muscles in on his turf, Empire is a serious power player within the urban sprawl and he is quite home within the jungle that is the city of Seattle. He hunts his enemy as if he is on safari and he makes damned certain his rules are followed or a silent death will come crawling from this bloody sandman. Empire has spent a vast amount of his time making sure the streets where under his rule and he won’t allow the UCAS, the British or a Dreamer stand in his way; with war looming on the horizon it would make sense for the Mariners to call in their Empire to keep the upper hand, well the Mariners have an Empire what do the dreamers have….(Sorry bad pun). This man is no joking matter, he is just as deadly and dangerous as any Krieghoff and maybe worse, Empire earned his handle for a reason and keep this in mind; his empire is one built on blood, sweat and tears as well as more blood. Stay clear of Empire and just allow him to do his work, or you might become nothing more than a statistic.
Donald Mathews (Avenger): The mighty Avenger has returned to the game that he once left behind many years ago; I wonder if he is seeking justice or his brand of vengeance once again. The Avenger has been directly involved in the original shadow war and sent many dreamers to an early grave and now it seems that he has once again returned to fill potters field once more with innocent souls. The Avenger is not a man that should be taken for granted and his life before and after the shadows is unknown, so be very cautious this killer has had many years to hone his skills and perfect his own game so with that prepare for the blood to flow during this bloody age.
Johnny Roman (Utah): Well it’s time for Utah to step back into the game and bring his level of destruction back to the streets, Utah is a well trained combat rigger that is cross trained in physical combat. This man ruled the back streets of Seattle for many years and helped Empire rule his turf, though it seems that this Mariner decided that he would take a step back creating a void that would be filled by many younger riggers; though now Utah has heard the call and has once again donned his Mariner colours. With the return of Utah one can assume that all forms of air, land and sea are well covered and with his countless drones patrolling for his mortal enemy death can come from any direction.
Sid McMillion (Dumpster): The infamous cop killer has been reunited with his brothers and sisters of the Mariners, well lets return to Old Seattle and the War of the Badges once again as the Dumpster begins to take them all to the dump. This man is a true monster and has zero redeeming qualities yet is loved by the masses, even negative press is good press for the Dumpster. This man is here to once again remove the garbage from the streets of Seattle and lets just hope that he doesn’t butcher to many innocents in the process, with Dumpster back in the game I would really reconsider any vacation to the Emerald City.
Oliver McKeen (Roulette): All Rise for the infamous Beast, for the once honourable judge has just been outed as a legendary Mariner from the original squad and whats worse is this man is connected to one of the most powerful and dangerous crime families the world has ever scene, not only is he connected he is the current Godfather of this family. Roulette has remained out of the game for almost a decade and do to his grandchildren being abducted and his home ransacked by gangbangers from the Vandals, Roulette also known as the Beast has been unleashed and in a bone chilling conversation between him and Bonfire all McKeen said was three ice filled words “I’m back in.” those words would rocket through the city and send shivers to anyone that could be deemed as an enemy. Let this be a lesson to anyone who dares to tangle with Roulette he killed over two dozen vandals while in his pyjamas, slippers and robe; this man has been out of the game for over a decade and still managed to over power opponents more than half his age while in his sleepwear…think about that Roulette wasn’t even prepared and still managed to fend off an attack from multiple opponents in multiple directions.
Theodore “Teddy” Delcord (Two-Face): The man of a million voices and personalities, good old Teddy is one hell of a superstar and having come from New York he has learned what it means to crawl from the bottom to the top; and this one time actor will not be willing to step aside and allow some Dreamer dethrone the kings of the shadows. Two-Face once walked away to raise a family but now with the threat to both the city and even his fellow Mariners being quite real he has returned to make a serious impact in the game once again. It also doesn’t help that he is the brother-in law to fellow Mariner Desperado, it seems that runners really like to stick together and even become family both figuratively and literately. Teddy is here to stay and let the cameras roll as Shadow Beats favourite miscreant has returned to his rightful place amongst the Mariners.
