Bio: The Statesman is actually one of the good guys out there, though this man has been cursed to share a similar physical appearance and style of dress with the dreaded Monarch. This has led to many moments of mistaken identity, thus thrusting this man into a war he knew nothing about till it came knocking on his front door. Before he became the mercenary known as the Statesman he was a simple politician that represented Denver’s third district in the state assembly, and he as well lived in Denver. This man was instrumental in creating the now infamous Denver Guard and as well as drafting many of the articles for the notorious Treaty of Denver. Though according to the Statesman he really didn’t have much of a say in the drafting of the treaty, as he was under Presidential authority. The Statesman had to watch as his country, state, and city would be torn asunder by the Natives and eventually the rise of the False Flag. He tried his best to stay out of the war and keep his nose clean, that was till his daughter would join the Denver Guard and begin to drag the family name into the mud.
The Statesman just kept himself busy with his work, and trying to do the best by his people and keeping a positive attitude about all the changes going on around him. Though this man could sense a storm was coming and this would force him to make a very serious decision about his future and the future of Denver. As the city began to divide itself into the various quadrants and the walls were being erected, the Statesman was seeing trouble brewing amongst the people, the Denver Guard a unit that was created to protect Denver from itself, was being absorbed into the UCAS and NAN divisions and they where becoming no better then the KGB. All of this was very troubling to man that prided himself on his patriotism and his pride, though for the Statesman things would take a turn for the worse when his wife and other children would be assassinated when his home would explode while he was off at a important meeting in the capital.
He would find out through an independent investigation with the Denver Police Department that the attempted assassination was done by a group of men led by what is referred to as the European Legion and they where targeting a man known a the Lord of War. The Statesman was taken aback by the similarities between him and this Lord of War, but still could not understand what this European Legion was and had no idea about the trials and tribulations going on in Europe at the current time. This was all do to a radio block, that was in place cutting Europe off from the rest of the world and any information that did leak out was broadcast by the tabloids so it wasn’t taken seriously. This was the Statesman’s final straw after the attempted assassination this nice, gentlemanly old man decided to take action. He could no longer sit by and watch as his city was being raped by the enemies of America and now he would have to deal with the enemies of this Lord of War, the Statesman was given no other option but to take up arms and join a war that he knew very little about.
The Statesman had spent a few years in the Colorado division of the National Guard when he was younger as a way to pay his way through college, but the minimal military training he had received as a younger man would have been washed away after a lifetime serving in the assembly. This man knew how to use a riffle and shotgun as he was a regular sport hunter, but he was about to embark into a lifestyle that demanded the best he could offer and after years of sitting in a country club he was not ready for the toll this would have on him. Plus the Statesman never actually pointed a gun at another living person before let alone pull the trigger in a life or death situation. He was not prepared physically or mentally for what entering this war would do to him, the Statesman always thought of himself as a man of peace and believed strongly in the power of speech but after his home exploded and he would loose his family; the time for peace and negotiations had passed and it was no a time for action.
The Statesman would pool his resources and equip himself with the best combat gear he could acquire, this man would use any and all of his contacts to smuggle in these items from outside of Denver, he would visit a shadow clinic to be outfitted with the state of the art cybernetics and bio-organic implants to give him an edge over those basic soldiers. Then he would take to the streets as an armed citizen, the Statesman though could not put his gentlemanly training and grooming behind him and he would end up nearly getting killed do to his chivalrous behaviour. By accepting an his targets yield, he lowered his guard enough for the soldier to open fire on him again and this time the Statesman was the one on the ground yielding to his opponent. Though this soldier was not going to show any mercy to the Statesman, and as he walked towards the downed politician, aiming his riffle to finish him off their was a flash of light and a glint of steel breaking the shadows as the soldier would fall dead sliced in two. As the image of the Ferryman would emerge from the shadows, the Ferryman would reach into his pocket pull out a medical card break it setting off the emergency signal and tossing the card down on the Statesman’s bleeding chest. Before he would vanish back into the shadows the Ferryman would say “There is no place for chivalry in today’s battlefield. Chivalry will only end up getting you killed or worse.” the Ferryman would then vanish into the darkness.
The Statesman would hear the sirens of the ambulance corps coming for him, and as he laid their bleeding and suffering those words spoken by his saviour would keep bouncing around in his head. The Statesman would be picked up and transported to a private medical clinic, where he would receive medical treatment and the staff would ask no questions, patch him up give him a few days of needed bed rest and then let him walk out the door. The entire time the words of the Ferryman would bother the Statesman as he knew for a civilised society to blossom, we must show chivalry to each other. He couldn’t believe that in only a few years, the world would not only stagnate but it would fall back on it’s ruthless past, and men had lost their honour and the rules of engagement would be lost to history. This torment would once again cause the Statesman to fall victim to another opponent in battle and would send him once again back to the medical clinic after being saved once again this time by Dead Eye of the Denver Guard.
Dead Eye would also tell the Statesman the same thing, you may consider yourself a gentleman, but there is no room for gentlemen on the battlefield any more. Again the Statesman would fail to follow the words of wisdom laid down before him, and after he would be realised from the medical clinic he would end up back in the hospital do to the same behaviour. Though the third time was the worse of them all and the wounds he received nearly killed him and he wouldn’t have anyone rescue him from his poor decision. The Statesman would spend many months in recovery and he would flat line three times do to his injuries, this near death experience is what it took for the Statesman to accept the truth. He could still live a chivalrous life, but he would have to show no mercy on the battlefield. He would have to show his enemy the same mercy they would show him and that is none. So after many months the Statesman was back out on the streets nearly broke and his gear in bad shape, he would knew he had already been given his three strikes and he should be out of the game in the grave. This time he was not going to allow his old behaviour to be his undoing and come hell or high water he was going to actually make a difference in this war.
The Statesman would spend the last of his fortune in smuggling in new and better equipment, and he would once again take to the streets that he used to protect with his words and pen, now with sword and gun. He would end up in multiple engagements against ruthless NAN and UCAS forces and for the first time the Statesman would show no mercy and he would end up taking his first life, though his first kill still haunts him to today as he had a young UCAS solider charging him with a fixed bayonet. The Statesman quickly slung his Spass and drew his long sword running the young solider through as he charged. The Statesman would see the young man was no older the eighteen years of age, and he would see the sorrow, fear and pain in the boys face as he slowly died after being run through by the Statesman. The Statesman’s state of shock wouldn’t last long as more bullets came screaming in his direction and he would be forced to use the body of the young soldier as a shield to absorb the incoming fire as he would fire back. Till his first kill became his second and his third and so on. The Statesman had gotten blood on his hands and he was determined to hold onto any shred of his dignity and humanity and not become like the other monsters that lurked within Denver’s shadows.
Though for the Statesman he would be fighting an uphill battle in the belly of the beast, and as the months turned to years he could see not only himself slipping to the dark side of his soul, but he could see the city falling deeper into the enemies grasp. The Statesman had been told by friends and allies to leave the city, before it was to late. The Denver Guard had been divided and those that didn’t stand united with the UCAS where being rounded up and executed. The runners that protected the shadows where fleeing and the city would soon be under complete lock down, they warned him that if he didn’t leave quickly he would be captured and he would die on the gallows and then have his body hung from the walls as a warning to all who would oppose the will of the UCAS and the NAN. The thought of leaving Denver was sicking to the Statesman, but he could already see the bodies of his fellow colleges hanging from the walls left to decay and be consumed by carrion. He didn’t wish to end up like them and he knew that his only option would be to flee Denver using the underground passages, before they got overtaken and the city was in complete lock down.
The Statesman would flee Denver under the cover of night, and he would eventually after great pains make his way to Seattle. Knowing this was the city that would accept him, Seattle would welcome a tired old mercenary with open arms like it did for so many others before. Well for the Statesman he was half right, Seattle did accept him. But not with open arms and he would once again be thrust head first into combat, this time he was fighting gangers, police officers, other runners and the European Legion that would arrive again to take down the Lord of War. Those first few years inside Seattle where the hardest for this man, as he was fighting for his life on a daily basis, trying to get acclimated to the new city and it’s inner politics and the politics of the streets. Though like all good mercenaries he would eventually find his grove and he would make a name for himself within the world of the professionals.
Currently the Statesman works as a soldier of fortune fighting against the enemy he helped create, and fighting to restore honour to a nation that has lost it’s way. The Statesman still believes in being as honourable as he can and he will never engage an unarmed opponent, though he has been burned three times prior so he is very cautious and if he feels threatened he will pull the trigger. The Statesman is a freelance mercenary and mostly works for the Freedom Patriots and Sons of the True Confederacy in their armed resistance against the False Flag. He also lent a helping hand during the battle for Seattle, though he was working mostly helping the citizens seek shelter in the sewers and clearing out the paranormal threat in the cities underbelly as the war waged on above ground. He lives by a very strict code of conduct and will never sway from him gentlemanly behaviour when not engaged in a bloody battle. Though even when fighting this man, still tries to adhere to his morale values and gets very upset when he is forced to breech his ethics. So basically the Statesman has been thrust into this lifestyle by happenstance and mistaken identity so please show this man respect as he is rare beam of light in a very dark word, The Statesman would lay his life down to defend anyone of you, this is a rare quality now a days he could be considered a true superhero.
