Bio: Well when it comes the news hound known as Socrates one can never question his dedication to the truth, his integrity is never in question and he will always broadcast the facts regardless of who might be upset by the information reaching the people; for he believes strongly that information should be shared with the people of the nation. Normally any reporter connected to specific order can be considered questionable at best, well for Ira this is not the case; he might be part of the D-Day Tribe but thats only do to being the man that would help spread the word of the usurpers and assist the people of Detroit claim their freedom and independence from those that dared to enslave the citizens. He would as well work along side Colonel Gunderson in spreading the word of the cities final hour and help broadcast the signal across all bandwidths, he would be forced to join the D-Day Tribe in order to spare his own life from the nuclear fire and as well align himself with people that could keep this old newshound and his grandchildren safe from the enemies of free speech.

Socrates worked within Detroit and would broadcast twice a day from his home studio seeing that Detroit’s public radio was highly regulated by the usurpers and any negative speech or freethinking was punished with imprisonment or even death if it was considered dangerous to those in power. This would put Socrates at odds with the powers that be numerous times, as he would never censor his speech and he would never report anything but the truth, his integrity and oath was everything to him and he would rather rot in jail than compromise his personal integrity. Well for Socrates he would spend many months within the city jails of Detroit for his illegal and blasphemous speech against the usurpers and would even narrowly escape the gallows twice do to his reporting. The first time he only survived do to the rope slipping and the stay of execution call coming in when it did. Though Socrates might have been willing to sacrifice everything to speak the truth, his family was not willing to stand by and watch as their father, grandfather and husband would be in and out of prison. They feared the Detroit Secret Police that was ruled by the usurpers, and his family would give Socrates an ultimatum either play by the rules or they wanted nothing to do with him. Left with the ultimate decision before him, Socrates would choose truth over his own family and he would move from the family home that he payed for and moved into a seedy basement apartment within Detroit’s combat zone where he would set up his pirate station and work as broadcaster, researcher, reporter and investigator. He would reach out to other broadcasters with a similar code of ethics to further his cause and continue his work, this is how he would become connected to Mr. Boston and the two would become a ‘power couple’ where they would rule the airwaves. One reporting from Boston and the other from  the war torn Detroit, it would be Mr. Boston’s popularity that would allow Socrates to reach an audience that would spread coast to coast and further anger the usurpers as they struggled to find the location of Socrates.

This old man is voice of the entire Motor City and his voice is like that of Mr. Boston very alluring and with a perfect pitch, he was able to use this to his advantage when reporting on the events that where unfolding within Detroit and spread the word of warning to the citizens about the dangers that lurked within the halls of the Motor City; for Socrates it was about the news and he didn’t care who he would upset his word needed to be trusted completely and for many citizens of the troubled city Socrates was their only outlet and as he spoke to the listeners they would for one moment feel as if they issues, concerns and worries actually mattered. For Socrates this was all the pay he needed and seeing that he was unable to work for a legitimate station out of fear of imprisonment, he would sacrifice all the comforts of life to make sure he was on the air for the troubled citizens, the voice of Socrates and his many words of wisdom would cause the great divide within Detroit and further the revolution within the Detroit.

He would risk everything to make sure that he stayed on the air and reported only factual news, this is how he would come into contact with the D-Company as they would have the resources he needed to stay on the air and as well the people able to do the hard fact research he would need for his news broadcasts. Socrates and the D-Company would form a bond during the early days of the revolution and it would be members of this tribe that would eventually save his life after his final arrest and conviction. Socrates would be captured by the usurpers in 2065 during one of his illegal broadcasts as he was reporting damning evidence about the plans of the usurpers and UCAS to fully enslave the city with a mind altering and sterilising toxin that would be introduced to the cities watershed, thus turning all the rebelling citizens into loyal mindless drones. Socrates didn’t get to finish his broadcast before the police busted down his doors and while he was on the air he was shackled, arrested and dragged off to the courthouse to stand trial without do process. Though it was because of the UCAS’s impulsive and speedy attack that the D-Company was able to spring into motion to prepare a rescue operation for their friend and comrade, by the time his rescuers had arrived Socrates was already found guilty of treason against the UCAS, bound in ropes and a noose firmly place around his neck. Lucky for Socrates they didn’t long drop him and he was being hung from the courtroom rafters when rescue team busted in the trough the front doors. He was fully bound and hoisted into the air, as the bullets where flying Socrates struggled to breath and his body began to twitch and urine would poor down his leg as he was slowly dying.

The agents of the UCAS that where on scene where no match for the might of the D-Company but by the time they defeated the enemy Socrates had already passed out and was hanging limp from the rafters. It seemed that they were to late and their friend and ally had been executed, it took them a bit longer to cut him down as the ropes where resistant to bullets and only caused Socrates to jerk and swing further. The Colonel quickly ordered his men to stop shooting the ropes as he made his way to where the noose was tied off, quickly slicing it with his sword Socrates feel to the ground being caught by Snake and laying limp in his arms. They quickly removed the noose and hood but Socrates was not breathing and it was obvious to everyone there that he was already dead, though the Medic wold not accept the fact and would begin CPR and continue to work on Socrates for many minutes until his life’s breath returned; though Socrates was not out of the water and would need further medical care and oxygen to fully recover.

The D-Company would return to their base with Socrates and hook him up to the machines to help him restore his strength and hopefully awaken from his coma. They would as well risk everything to retrieve his radio equipment and personal items from his home, before sealing the doors to their base, It would take Socrates many months to recover and he would never fully recover from his ordeal, his once majestic voice was damaged and he would be left with a permanent scare around his neck as a constant reminder that freedom is not free. Though even while he was recovering and his voice was nothing but a whisper he would put the headphones back on and take the microphone once again. As he wanted to let the people now that their voice was still alive and hope that he could restore the morale of the city that had plummeted when they thought Socrates was no more.

The UCAS tried to illegally remove him from expressing his rights and take him permanently off the air, though it wold be do to the D-Company that he would snub his nose at the UCAS and return to his rightful place as the voice of freedom. Even with his damaged vocal cords and the pain it would cause him he would continue to report the news and give his bits of wisdom and historical reference to the people, eventually Socrates signal wold be picked up by other stations throughout the nation and his words, trials and tribulations would be spread coast to coast. During this time is how Socrates would become familiar with radio legend Mr. Boston and the two wold become a true powerhouse of legitimate news as their voices would become the voice of a nation.

Now this would last for many years and even today where Socrates works legally alongside Mr. Boston, though it would be the final days of Detroit that would fully change Socrates life and cause him further distress. By this time he had reconciled with his family and was once again allowed to be a father and now grandfather to his four grandchildren that he had never before meet; and it would be on New Years Eve of 2073 that he would become the only family those children would have, as he would be babysitting for them as their parents left for an evening in the rich section of Detroit once owned by the usurpers and now open to the public. He would have his grandchildren with him as he prepared to read the evening news, his grandson sleeping in his arms as Socrates started his broadcast with his traditional anecdotes and historical reference point. He would receive the disturbing news form the Colonel about the UCAS and there panned nuclear strike. Socrates would immediately pause his planned broadcast and break script as he with a sorrowed voice and a tear running down his check would alert the citizens of Detroit that Armageddon was upon them and the government was preparing to unleash nuclear hellfire upon the city; he would call for an immediate evacuation and end with the Lords Prayer. He would then put his broadcast on repeat and connect it to the emergency broadcast station in hopes to reach those listening to other channels. Socrates would as well emphasise that this was not a drill, a test and it was a true emergency and life or death situation; he than gathered his grandchildren and his only suitcase as he prepared to evacuate with the D-Company. While he was heading for the vessel he tried numerous times to reach his children hoping they had heard the broadcast and all he could do was hope and pray, as he boarded the vessel. He made sure the grandchildren where below deck and he just stared out into the cities limits praying as the vessel would launch and head off into deep waters his phone would ring and as he answered with a spotty signal he could hear his children’s voices all wishing their father a Happy New Year, it was obvious to Socrates that they had failed to hear his reports and before he could get the words out of his mouth he would be knocked to the deck from the shock wave and witness the multiple tiny mushroom clouds in the cities skyline; the phone went dead and as he stared at his open cell phone to a screen of snow he knew that his children where forever gone, innocent souls stolen by the government for no apparent reason.

Socrates would survive that evening and  eventually make his way east to the City of Patriots where he would join forces with his close friend Mr. Boston to form a true radio powerhouse, though his heart and soul would remain in Detroit and he would owe a debt that he could never repay to his friends and fellow members of the D-Day Tribe. Socrates swore that faithful night to never forget the ultimate act of evil and to make sure the truth of that night was heard by everyone, he didn’t want it falling into obscurity and allow all those lives to be in vain. His arrival in Boston is recent, but he has already made a name for himself and without fear of reprisal Socrates can report on anything and everything. His radio show is more of a call in talk radio with the occasional song and then the news broadcasts that he does, the pains in his neck and voice still haunt him and it can be heard as he speaks; though his powerful deep voice was not able to be silenced and Socrates fights through the pain to keep the people informed. His credibility has never been questioned and it shouldn’t be in question today, this man was nearly hung once and actually hung another time, he spent over a decade locked up in prison for his newscasts and he was and still is the Voice of Freedom. Socrates is a survivor of one of histories greatest acts of evil perpetrated on the people and he holds all the gathered documents and evidence from within the ruins of Detroit. He might not be a soldier and able to join his brothers of Detroit Company but he still wears his cap proudly and will never forget what they sacrificed to rescue him from deaths cold embrace.

Socrates like Mr. Boston is very old fashioned and traditional, his broadcasts are not about popularity and the only reason we have any pictures of this man is do to the stations website. He is always professionally dressed on and off the air and he is adapting well to life in a civilised city, where he doesn’t need to fight daily for food and clean water as well he is now the only parent to four young children that will never understand why they can not go home and why their parents will never return home. Socrates lived in Detroit for his entire life so don’t think this man has not learned a thing or two about self defence and after all he has been through he will defend his family with his life, he might be living once again in a civilised city but like the soldiers of Vietnam; you can take the man out of the jungle but you cant take the jungle out of the man. This statement lives on with Socrates, he has been permanently physically and mentally scarred by the events within Detroit, but this old broadcaster is one of the nicest people you will ever meet and he is full of grandfatherly advice; just remember this man suffers from serious Post Traumatic Stress Disorder so don’t be insulted if he has an episode, the events are all still to real to him and forever will the screams of Detroit’s final hour live on in his mind and soul.
